It's not that often that one reads favourable opinions on the Russian armed forces and its leadership - plus underlining its defensive nature - by former US military personnel.

The below appears on the blog of Col Patrick Laing, a former US Green Beret and CIA analyst. The writer of the post, at Laing's invitation, is (TTG) also a former US Special Forces officer with a 10-year speciality in psychological operations.

It is, however, often that one reads praise for Russia's military, government and policies from the same people who are hypercritical of America and our allies.

Then you're not critical of our actions, even though it's caused the death and destruction of millions and is bringing us to the brink of war? Unbelievable!

    Some very interesting comments

At the end of the article he mentions psychological warfare, I recall reading an article about how this is used in Eastern Ukraine, personalised with chilling effect.

There is no brink of war.

The liberals hopefulness that one starts is completely on them.

Funny how we weren't on the brink of war just 3 years ago when Obama took office and how all of a sudden Putin get's a puppet in Trump but now its also a brink of war.

You guys are so full of it it's mind boggling.

Beside the point, innit. There is a sad correlation between anti-Americanism and Putinophilia.

Jenny is quite unique in her expressed views. I definitely wouldn't lump her with any liberals. She's in the anti-US kook crowd.

So purely "defensive".....which means youll always be a #2or #3.....and not an expeditionary??....LOL!!!! Tell that to eastern Ukraine and Georgia....but wait they are "not there"....LOL.

Rooski Air Force is now Aerospace force?? Sounds like a copycat of US Space force.....im sure they'll go to great lengths to try and steal what they can...:-D

I take the rumors of declining military readiness seriously

Tbe wipe-every-nose liberal welfare state is slowly sucking the life out of national defense

Color me skeptical. Not that I'm defending any "war mongering neocon scourge" in the first place. I suggest laying off the disinformation and clearing your head a little. Maybe take a break from the internet -- it has a way of making people a little cray-cray.

"The brink" is near the moment of "no return". Jeannette is correct. How long will the U.S. stand with its toes at the brink is a good question. I feel certain that if Hitlery Clinton had got her Maybelline-indorsed fluffy slippers under the bed at the Whine House the U.S. would be coming home from the Ukraine and Syria in body bags right now. So, all in all, you are very lucky to have this chance to avoid the moment of "no return". But it's only a chance and I would not advise lingering too long on "the brink" however because someone on the other side might get nervy and slip on the trigger.

I just read the speech by Shoigu, and the last part interested me where he spoke of the improvements in the medical facilities, the housing for the military, the training of students, the budget considerations, etc. I guess we woke a sleeping giant - thanks to the neo cons.

At the end Shoigu thanked Vladimir Putin and said all of it would not have been possible without the meetings he had over the years with the various departments. The man's a superman.

We wouldn't need any defense if it wasn't for such as Boot, Kristol, Kagans, etc. All neocons! The whole Russiagate farce was so Trump wouldn't better relations with Russia.

Little Banker tools, believing they can control the world through currency, with SWIFT sanctions as their primary weapon.

They will lose, and **** the American people, to which they hold no loyalty in the process

That our citizens are too fat for the military is a problem for our national defense.

Russia was not an enemy, but all this collusion with Russia nonsense was to impress in the American people that Russia was the enemy when it was not an enemy, and that Trump was colluding with them. That way Trump couldn't better relations without being attacked. What did they hope to achieve, other than turning Russia back into its 'liberal' kleptocracy days under Yeltsin when its wealth was being sent to New York, Geneva, London, Tel Aviv, etc. They were robbed of billions, as Syria has been robbed and as Venezuela is now being robbed.

Everything we did from the attack on Serbia under false pretenses and the demonizing of Miloshevik, to the support of terrorists in Syria and the demonizing of Assad, and now the latest with Venezuela and the demonizing of Maduro has been to hurt Russia - and Moscow damned well knows it. Well Washington reaped what it sowed, and they woke up a sleeping giant - and its to the detriment of all of us.

Of course this doesn't mean that Washington will not continue its course. Expect more! :oldman:
