https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/worl...olar-bear-invasion/ar-BBTpZFh?ocid=spartandhp Got to admit it is funny that an island that had something like 200 megatons of nuclear weapons detonated there during the Cold War has to declare an emergency over a few dozen polar bears. Note in Barrow, Alaska, when the Barrow Whalers practice football they have someone stand guard with a rifle to keep the polar bears away. And when kids there are Trick or Treating on Halloween, rifle teams patrol to keep bears from snatching kids. Polar bears are arguably the most vicious bear of them all despite their "cuddly" image.
I think polar bears are extinct... Gore told us they'd be gone like a decade ago if I recall correctly, U making stuff up agin? Otherwise, it's obviously a Trump Russia collusion, trying to sway headlines & all, lol.
Unfortunately, the bears are having to move off the feeding grounds on the ice flows because ...well ... the ice ain't flowing so much - and into more populated areas.
Ice flows are their feeding grounds when the seals are in the area. They don't have an established mainland dining hall, per se...
Russian islands declare emergency after polar bear 'invasion'. You left "polar bear" out of the OP Title. Funny story, though.
Will they move them? And where to? The world may well be grateful to Russia one day.... the last wilderness,
"A team of experts would be sent to Novaya Zemlya to assess the bears' behavior" The poor bloody things are starving to death - I don't think it needs 'a team of effing experts' to find out what their behavior will be ffs!!
Killing animals is cool. Got it. @Dayton3 I pray when the time comes a polar bear makes the passage to the next life better.
I wouldn't say it is funny. There is a law collision behind the lines of the news. There is a ban to shoot at polar bears. No matter what. The local administration hasn't got an approval from the agency to get a few licences to kill some bears who actually started to hunt for food in the settlement. This is the reason for an 'emergency situation'. In Russia the people cannot walk in the streets with guns. Even police needs to keep it covered. And the administration cannot issue the orders like giving guns to the locals telling them to shoot at sight in case of any danger. This is just illegal in normal conditions. But emergency situation gives more rights to local officials, police and demands more attention from the civilians. Unfortunately the US media picks only the bloody and the most stupid news to give their audience an information about Russia. The bears walking in the streets is somewhat a pattern for anyone who has never ben to Russia to think of my country.
That’s not what people think when they think of Russia. They think more of broke, half drunk people that take a shower once a week and who think they are a superpower.
True. This is another pattern. It depends on the person which pattern to pick. A good western girl (any age) with love towards humanity would probably think of bears in the streets and unbearable cold. A boy (of late ages) would probably think the way you wrote, but in most cases he wouldn't say it in public. At least till times when russophic propagand doesn't succeed completely turning western people into agressors and quite soon vicitims of yet another war of the West against Russia. . In general it depends on people. Being in the US I met different people. Including the ones who didn't like to take showers and the ones who were crying about the super-duperpower on the fact of having some pieces of paper with their citizenship. But if I judge about all the americans of these people - it would be just stupid.
Bears are cool, especially the Polar Bear. Dump a few whale carcasses on the shore and you'd remove all problems.
you'd think that the libs would offer themselves up as a meal for the poor things... a win win me thinks...
Except that the current coverage is the eighth lowest in the satellite record that is roughly just 40 years, not even an eye blink in the global history. And it has been mostly increasing since its low in 2010. Overall, the polar ice is just fine and the polar bear population has increased 42% over the last 11 years and the bears are reported to be fat and healthy. https://community.aarp.org/t5/Politics-Current-Events/POLAR-BEARS-DOING-JUST-FINE/td-p/1679449 Because there are so many of them they are likely increasing their range which could make them more of a hazard to arctic communities.
