U.S. officials said that Turkey may have misunderstood the initial notification and the deployment was never confirmed.

They said the United States frequently notifies Turkey for potential access to the Black Sea. But a request does not necessarily mean its ships will pass through, but rather ensures that if they choose to, they already have the required approval.

Yeah, I saw those weasel words. Fact is, the US blinked on that. Looks like they opted for more sanctions and expelling Russian officials instead.

Probably we did. I suppose if we'd gone through with it, though, we'd be accused to provoking poor Russia again.

    .

Here in the South we call what the US military did = crawfishing!

Backing out of a bad situation like a crawfish walks backwards when threatened.

I think Tulsi Gabbard gave the American people a good scare of what a war with Russia would be like on the Tucker Carlson show the other day. This is probably why Biden pulled the ships back.

If the US and EU really wanted the problems in Ukraine to end, then they would force Zalensky to follow through on the Minsk agreement. If they did that though, they would be alienating the Nazis that Washington put in power.

So what we have once again, are American troops in Lviv training 'nationalists', while the conscripts from the rest of Ukraine, are to be used as cannon fodder and given only two weeks training.

As for Russia's build up, they can do whatever they want on their own territory. The question Lavrov threw back at Washington is; 'what is the US doing 5 thousand miles away from home?

This is a question the American people better start asking, before it's too late.

You seriously think that Biden makes decisions based on something Tulsi Gabbard says on Tucker Carlson? I mean, seriously?

Christianity is crushed? CNN must have told him that. Can you believe that statement? Somebody needs to travel to Europe and see all the cathedrals and churches every where in every country except, let's see..China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Turkey, etc. Christianity is alive and well in Russia, that is why Russia is a threat to the left and all the dumb as rocks rhinos. When B.O. sent planes and weapons to Libya to take down Gaddafi, who protected Christians and kept control of African migration, they dragged him through the streets just like they did the Benghazi U.S, ambassador.. Anyway, Putin has watched the video of the take down of Gaddafi over and over, and sees what length the war hawk presidents will go to, to depose a leader. Everything Putin is doing right now or has done, is to protect his country. He loves his country and does not want it destroyed by western decadence. Now this inept character in the white house is threatening Putin and could get us in a war which they always screamed President Trump would. The true liberals for love and peace are not in charge, just the filthy leftist radicals. Putin said he considered the U.S,warships in the area a threat. He has nothing but scorn for Biden.

Hopefully as a president of the US, he makes decisions by the pressure from the American people, after being told what a war with Russia would be like. Thank you Tulsi Gabbard, and thank you Tucker Carlson.

Hopefully, as a president of the US, he does make decisions by the will of the American people. I would think that pressure would be exerted as it was in the 80's, once the people realized what a war with Russia would be like. Thank you Tulsi Gabbard, and thank you Tucker Carlson.

Vladimir Putin tried to warn the American people and blasted the reporters for not waking them up to reality before they began developing their hypersonic weaponry, but it was to no avail. Whoever controls the MSM and Washington are idiots and are leading the world to its destruction.

As for anyone who objects or minimizes the threat, is either living in a dream world, which is doubtful, or wants a full scale war for some weird reason - not knowing what the consequences would be.

Vladimir Putin makes a lot of noise. That's about all he can do, to be honest.

But he is not going to scare us into submission with his threats. We don't back down from terrorists, even ones with nukes.

    Yeah, about making noise......

The US government on Thursday downplayed a bombshell report that Russia may have placed bounties on US troops in Afghanistan — but White House press secretary Jen Psaki dodged questions about whether President Biden regrets attacking former President Donald Trump over the issue.

A senior administration official told a group of reporters that the US intelligence community “assesses with low to moderate confidence that Russian intelligence officers sought to encourage Taliban attacks [on] U.S. and coalition personnel in Afghanistan in 2019 and perhaps earlier.”

The allegation that Russia offered cash to the Taliban to kill US troops was politically explosive last year during the presidential campaign. Biden repeatedly attacked Trump for not punishing Russia over the claim.

What about it? Nice to see that Biden has finally put sanctions on Russians over it.

You really need to keep up:

    ••••••••••••••••••••••
The White House said that it was not imposing punishment for reports that Russia encouraged Taliban attacks against US and coalition troops in Afghanistan because the US intelligence community has only "low to moderate confidence" that Russia offered bounties, the senior administration official said.

I have news for our forum war mongers who I suspect have foreign affinities - or they wouldn't be so indifferent towards American lives.

Putin had blasted the reporters for not warning the American people before Russia went ahead with its development of its hypersonic weapons. Russia now has them. They're fully developed and can hit any city in the US.

Oh, I see. The story I saw earlier today made it sound like there were sanctions in response to that, but I guess that was wrong and has been corrected. And it seems that is due to the low certainty on the part of American intel.

Thanks for the update. Of course, it seems that there is at least an American response to that now, finally, even if they don't include sanctions.

American lives are not at risk. Russia will never deploy nuclear weapons against us. They don't want their civilization brought to a tragic end any more than we do.

And again, we don't back down from terrorists and their threats. We let them know that there will be consequences if they act on their threats.

Are you aware that today Russia blocked the Kerch Strait from foreign warships until October? Ukraine calls it an act of war.

Ukraine can call it whatever they like and they may be right, but so what? Am I supposed to fear Russian nukes falling on US soil over it?

You can make of it what you wish. I just wonder how that squares with this:

Biden in his conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy affirmed “unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression,” according to a statement from the White House.

How does this change anything? They've had enough ICBMs for decades to overwhelm our meager missile defense systems and hit any city in the US. So now they can do it what? Faster? From a lower altitude? Nothing has fundamentally changed about the equation. They can still wreck the US with their missiles and we can still wreck Russia with ours. That's the same way things have been for decades. Can anyone please explain to me how hypersonic missiles are any sort of a "game changer" with respect to the US and Russian mutually-assured-destruction balancing act?

If Ukrainians have been paying attention, they'll note that Russia now controls Crimea and has for several years. "unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression" hasn't amounted to all that much so far.

You have any sources for that claim other than the Russians themselves or the U.S. military?

    .

Biden just gave a short live speech about Russia.

Biden said he has offered to meet with Putin in a neutral European country this summer.

Other than that most of what Biden said was a repeat of what is already being discussed.
