Well Dennis, the dark matter, as far as I know, is what we call the source of the extra gravity that we can't account for in theories about gravity. That is there appears to be more gravity out there than we can account for with existing matter. Of course dark matter could all be an error of our gravity models. I asked AboveAlpha about the "bits of information" there in my other thread, about Newton being wrong, but he never took the time to explain it out for the rest of us. The theory that was introduced in the other thread talked about gravity being emergent from information in space-time. Now how could there be bits of information in space-time and whether it relates to the multiverse is unclear to me.
