They do deal in death and misery, they don't - Black and white. I'm being kind to all who want their kids to grow up free from drugs and not exposed to dealers.
This cuts across everything that indofred has suggested. The war on drugs doesn't work and no it doesn't work in Oz or USA or other Western countries. Indonesia is basically a third world country still and has this growing drug problem. There is so much money involved that officials start getting involved and that is one of the issues associated. Decriminalise and tax the stuff. I think Colorado makes an annual turnover of around 100 million on marijuana tax revenue! On top of this crime is down. Dodgy drug dealers are left with the dregs in more isolated parts of the state. Now they can use the revenue to not condemn people further but to rehabilitate and educate!
So you are saying that western people don't want this for their children, or those that want to decriminalise?
I'm saying people who live in countries that have serious problems son't realise what life is like without drug dealing scumbags. The idiot left try to say the only way to cure the problem is to let people off but I say the best way is to shoot all the dealers. Same end product of no convictions after a while but my version means there are no addicts either. Sorted.
This is true but are any of the dealers nabbed on Bali poor people are were the vast majority of them making a lot of cash?
I think there is not enough effort given to taking out the importers and manufacturers. They are the criminals who need rounding up rather than people supporting their habit through dealing.
My take is that there is a demand for the stuff. Dealers can only sell it because someone wants to buy it.....so the cycle goes. Nailing the dealer is like putting the horse before the cart. Indonesia will not stop hard drugs getting into the country. The less there is, the higher the price people are willing to pay and the greater the risk desperate dealers are willing to take. If people are able to be open about their addiction and are able to be rehabilitated without repercussion, the more likely the underlying issues can be addressed. Yeah dealers are naaasty but while the focus is on them, the war on drugs is absolutely mute is my thinking.
