The nation's top intelligence official has refused to comply with a House Intelligence Committee subpoena to provide the contents of a whistleblower complaint a government watchdog deemed "urgent" and credible, the panel's chairman, Adam Schiff, said late Tuesday.

"The committee's position is clear — the acting DNI [Director of National Intelligence] can either provide the complaint as required under the law, or he will be required to come before the committee to tell the public why he is not following the clear letter of the law, including whether the White House or the attorney general are directing him to do so," Schiff said.

"Under the statute as written, the Director of National Intelligence doesn't have the discretion to not act or get a second opinion," Margaret Taylor, senior editor of the Lawfare Blog, told the Post. "He just has to forward it to the intelligence committees."

I cannot cut too much of the articles, but they're both good, and frightening, reads...

This story hasn't been as widely reported, what with the Saudi bombing and a former Trump aide snarking his way through a Congressional Impeachment Inquiry, but I find this extremely scary.... Everybody should, but we all know the general list of people who will ignore this behavior that would cause apoplexy were the shoe on the other foot...

As usual, Fat Bob Costas is doing his best Roy Cohn and protecting his man...

I don't know the actual law here, but it sounds like administration is pulling from it's usual bag of lame and unsupportable rationales. But all delays of anything work to Trumps advantage... no denying that...

What happens tomorrow?? I really hope Schiff puts the hammer down (on somebody's foot). Maybe physical pain will jolt some of these Stepford Appointees...

It is now being reported that during an interaction with a foreign leader the President made a “promise”. That “promise” triggered the whistleblower—intelligence official. It appears the communication occurred in August.

This could get real interesting. Once again, they’re trying to protect the President and breaking the law in the process.

It already is pretty interesting.... It could get legally sticky for certain persons...

Please post any non-firewalled articles you can find to support your claims going forward... saves time long term...

    Here's a quick one... I haven't read it yet..

And this makes an even 1,000 times the loony liberals have claimed they have the "goods" on Trump, yet somehow all this incredibly damning evidence seems to lose it's way before it actually exists.

Talking heads on MSNBC are speculating this promise was made during the 7/31 call between Trump and Putin..... The whistleblower blew the whistle on 8/12, so I guess that time frame works...

And we all know Trump would promise Putin just about anything...... Sanctions overrides perhaps??

My guess is it's unlikely this promise will amount to much, but as always, it's the cover up that's extremely interesting...

This is the 2nd Trump appointee that doesn't seem to comprehend the word "shall".... It's really not a hard word to understand
