So has a republican house rep and white house aides. Numerous have already resigned. 1st time in US history there wasn't a peaceful transition, all due to Trump. All those close to him said he would not leave peacefully.

To Susan Collins: Has he learned a lesson? Maybe the second time will be the charm to get rid of him.

I would be in favor of any remedy that can remove Trump (and prevent him from running in 2024).

Even a long shot like an "expedited impeachment".

He is clearly unfit to continue to serve as the President.

It's not up to Schumer. And Schumer looks like an idiot after riotous mobs attacked federal facilities all summer long and he gave barely a fig leaf of concern, to now try to hyperbolize a disruptive protest at the Capitol as "insurrection". He hasn't seen anything that remotely resembles what an actual insurrection would look like.

I agree he should be gone ASAP, but it will never happen via the 25th amendment... NEVER... As long as Trump can state that 'no inability exists', he's not removed. Waste of time, even if you could get Pence to go along, which he won't.

    Impeach, Remove and Disqualify Forever..

    Do it ASAP...

Obviously, I can only agree to physically take Trump out of WH.

Some argue that invoking the 25th could only fuel division and perhaps the level of violence in the country.

    Is that so?

Worse than a Trumpster assault on the Capitol?

As a conservative, I support Schumer 100% here and now!

Trump has just under 13-days to do something even more heinous than inciting this violence.

Can we perform an impeachment and removal in under two weeks?
Won't McConnel grind that to a halt?

True! He likely could use the War Powers act to get us into a war that the identity administration would have to solve.

I'm not sure exactly when the Georgia election will be certified and those Senators will get seated, but once they are, the Senate will (probably) be split 50-50, with Vice-President Pence as the tie-breaker (until the 20th, when Harris will hold that tie-breaking power). The bigger issue is that it takes 2/3 of the Senate to convict on impeachment, and I don't think the libs have anywhere near that level of support in the Senate.

the difference being, context and facts, any excited protests regarding killer cops and complicit courts were an understandable outcome especially when goons are ordered to bust their heads and others like Kyle come gunning vs the silliness of traitor trump's murderous mobs who are just pouty brats, mad cos they didn't get their way.

    It CAN be done.

The House could draft articles today, and the Senate could ram it through tomorrow.

    "COULD" being the operative word.

You realize the "transition" wasn't yesterday, right? That happens in a couple of weeks.

If McConnell decides to grind it to a halt, that's a non starter

If 2/3 of the Congress decide it's time for this POTUS to go, I have no idea why it would take more than 24-48 hours...

Everything could move on an expedited basis.. The "rules" just have to be agreed to by the various leaders..

A few hours of House debate (for posterity), a vote, notice sent directly to the Senate, who is already waiting...

A few hours of Senate trial (for posterity), a vote, then another vote to disqualify forever.

I'm not aware of anything about time constraints regarding impeachment...

Right. However, both chambers recently showed they could achieve the necessary votes to oust him with their override of his Defense budget veto, by gathering the same number of votes necessary for conviction on impeachment in the Senate (to impeach only requires a House simple majority vote...as you probably already know).

You have a point. If in the house debate is required but very limited in time ok. Those who will vote for impeachment can wave their time. All we would have to listen to in the FOTS.

    That would be great.

LOL... I'm not sure how you are even going to be able to explain to him when his last day is here, and it's time to go
