First, Sincere *** Apologies *** if Anyone started other Science Fiction Film threads, I searched and found zero earlier threads, and was too Lazy to search through 20 pages.

Iike to divide Science Fiction Films S.S.F.s or S F for the remainder of the discussion for brevity,
    Into a few camps.

    1. Really primitive films like early 1930's Rocket Films, Buck Rogers with laser pistols and vacuum tube computers.

    2. The early 60's more modern still outdated Star Trek era

    3. The Star Wars Era which defined Modern SF Films

    4. Really flashy newer SF films like Blade Runner and new adaptations of older stories.....

I saw the now campy 1979 film "The Black Hole" with some well known actors of that day, yet the story is still relevant as we learn more about one of the most incredible enigma known to
    Humankind,
    Let the discussion begin.

The 50's era When Worlds Collide still holds up. That seems due for a remake.

Yes it does, bits of I think it was "Day After Tomorrow" reminded me of it.

I love SF stories and film/tv and the standout is still "2001: A Space Odyssey". There have been so many good films though. I still like "Silent Running" and of all the Alien series number 2 "Aliens" is still great for a shiver or two, even when you know what's coming.

I recently watched 2001 with my 20 yr old nephew. I hadn't seen it in decades and it didn't hold up well for me. Neither did Clockwork Orange. My nephew didn't like either.

He did like the Matrix series and I also enjoyed re-watching them.

My favorite ship was the Gunstar in the classic 80's The Last Starfighter it looked and was designed well as a starship should be thrusters all around to move in 0G with agility and various weapons all hitting 360 Degrees around the ship in a sphere and a navigator seat who ran the engines and moved the ship while the Starfighter just operated the weapons and was in command of the ship. It was a bit large but with its speed, maneuvering and armor could match any fighter craft from most settings using them. I also liked the advanced one had a Death Blossom the super weapon that could unleash the whole arsenal draining the batteries in a certain area it was awesome.

I mean if you look at it and what it did I could see the Star Wars Rebels using this if it added a basic hyperdrive to ravage the Empire better than maybe existing designs in practice it didn't have the limits of the X-Wing weapons in the front only and was probably as sturdy if not more so it took hits from many ships and could still fight. Maybe swapping out some weapons for the better versions it would be very competitive.

Metropolis - 1927. I suggest watching the re-release done in the 80s by Giorgio Moroder. However, since that came out, an original copy was found in a box in an attic. Until then, some of the scenes had been lost. I don't know how much missing film there was but what I saw was fantastic. And I think the [then] modern musical soundtrack adds a lot. The original movie is now recognized as one of the top 100 movies ever made for its artistic content, and contribution to film making.

Brazil - 1985 retro-futuristic, highly satirical, and very creative. This is considered to be an early representation of Steam Punk.

Primer - 2004 Made on a $6000 budget, this award-winning film has what is likely the driest, but also the most logically rigorous and challenging science fiction plot ever written.

I liked "Wings over the World" it is not Science Fiction in the beginning, it starts out as a War movie, then progresses......
    With Raymond Massey.....
The Original everyone loves Raymond...... Joke....

Don't forget movies like the Original Tron !
I saw it in a modern full Theater as a lad !
I really fell in love with Computers then !

I loved Arcade games, later, bought a Space invaders, the smaller Japanese 2 player horizontal model that looked like a small desk, not the larger vertical model.
