Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein had an exchange with Judge Neil Gorsuch during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing today in which he schooled the liberty-hating progressive on the right to keep and bear arms. Of course..that's not the answer she wanted. Most of this grilling is about selecting a judge who will interpret the law in a way she likes.Personally, I prefer judges who set their opinions aside and deal with the law as written. Personally, as per "Jury Nullification" where a Jury, in the Interest of Justice & Fair application of Law, can ignore Law(s) in the Interest of Justice. Example; State of New York vs John Q. Public NYC John Public defends himself from an attacker and kills his attacker, he is not charged as it is self Defense plain and simple. He is however, charged with possession of an unlicensed unregistered handgun. The Jury is instructed to find the Plaintiff Guilty of Violating various Gun Laws. Under Jury Nullification, a Jury can return a Not Guilty Verdict and ignore Instructions. I prefer a Judge that is of like mind.
The more I hear that man talk the more awesome he gets. A judge who sees his job as interpreting the law. Novel approach, I know.
The more fun was the ridiculous attempted interrogation by Al Franken. What a joke and waste of a senate seat. MN should be ashamed of themselves for sending such a demonstrably stupid and petty person.
Why would anyone accept a supreme court nomination and subject themselves to these partisan interrogators. I take it back at least Al Franken can be a little funny during the introductions.
Clearly, mr Franken did just that. You could see the veins popping through the thin skin of his human face mask.....
This topic, Personal Defense, is not about Emotion, it is about facts and Logic, you may try and confuse the issue, however, the Truth is quite another issue, these Truths are Self Evident.
One tries. Do you suppose that it was the intent of mr Franken to deliver sunshine yesterday? Funny how folks perceive light being shed on their pet hate mongers.....
. Think of it as being a gardener, and having to endure the unpleasant smell once you kick the dirt over a little to expose the rot that someone like Franken wallows in.
I agree completely. Which is also why we have so many of such low character in office. No one with self respect and respect for friends and family would ever subject themselves to this kind of abuse and invasion of privacy.
I have been an avid Gardner, you compost the bits and rot, and after a while, compost smells fine, it is home to many creatures and from it, produces fine fuit.
Feinstein came out and said she could not support Neil Gorsuch. This exchange was fairly tame I think. Gorsuch was correct of course. Heller is the current law. It is fairly narrow law and it had/has nothing to do with Feinstein's question. Heller was about handguns and Feinstein's question which was loaded and really more of a statement was about carbines. A carbine is a long pistol or a short rifle. Heller is silent on carbines. There is no law on carbines. I thought Gorsuch did a nice stonewalling job on Feinstein's question/statement which was a litmus test and therefore an unethical question. If the truth be told, there is no Federal law on carbines yet. Only Heller on handguns.
