Someone finally brings attention to this. The women were allowed to protest with the men to bring down Mubarak, but now when they want to be assertive, they are beaten on the streets.

Egypt seems to be controlled now by the muslim brotherhood, just as predicted. What an improvement!

It is not the MB who are beating that woman. And as much as I distrust the MB they have come out in support of women and have accused the army of barbaric behaviour towards egyptian women.

The military or some security force is doing this . I wonder about the guy in the tennis shoes as well as the fact that the woman in abaya is only wearing jeans and a bra underneath it. Covered women cover up inside the abaya as well as outside. Most egyptians layer like crazy. It is very cold out once the sun goes down. No religious woman would go out with nothing under her abaya.Esp if she were going out to protest. Never.

Considering the molestation of Female reporters during the revolution its clear what the status of woman in Apartheid Egypt is.

Too bad, but that is how religion and culture mix. She probably focused more on policy of establishing a government but the broadcast media dumbs her down by only showing her dawning her women's lib hat, when they should show the SOS hat.

I don't see how they are going to change the minds of old arabs and muslims who use religion to manipulate their people. It is impossible for the old ones to accept 2000 years of cultural evolution to change in 8 months. Impossible. They might end up like the USSR after WWII, and then it will take 40 more years to break from military governmental rule. And then another 20+ years to break away from that.

Women are marching on the streets today protesting the violence against women in Egypt.

Egyptian women angered by the recent violence used against them in clashes between army soldiers and protesters, one carrying a poster with a picture of a woman that assaulted by soldiers, chant anti military slogans during rally that ended in Tahrir Square, Cairo, Egypt Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011. Egypt's ruling generals are coming under mounting criticism at home and abroad for the military's use of excessive force against unarmed protesters, including women, as they try to crush the pro-democracy movement calling for their ouster. I agree, but to change the religious minds of the old and the old military will be a challange that will take many years. In fact, it will take a new generation of military leaders to hav open minds for change.

There is a ring of good men that are surrounding these marching women to protect them from harm.

no egyptian woman goes out like that. the houses are cold and people layer here inside or out.

Besides, she has been identified as an activist.

My comment was not to diminish the fact that what she underwent was beyond unacceptable.

That beaten woman was wearing nothing but Abaya. No woman in Egypt in December wears only abaya! especially in December!! That's first.

Clinton should have been minding her own business and checking out the women in the USA who are being beaten by her own police.
Denver Colorado this week saw your own thug police in full riot gear like the Terminator punch an unarmed middle aged lady in the chest and throw her to the ground in the rain in the middle of the street as one man shouted thugs and made Hitler steps as he marched along.

Maybe Clinton can tell us how that woman is doing and what arrest was made. Maybe that women can come on TV and tell us her story.

Should be on U Tube. She was wearing an orange jacket so easy to spot.
Our TV shows it but I doubt the Fox shows you.

    How right you are.

Anyway, when you get right on down to it the primary function of the police and the military is to protect the elite, whether that be the political elite or military-industrial moguls. If you want to change the behavior of the police and the military you have to recognise that they are all essentially weak-willed people for whom violence holds an attraction. OK, so this may not be true of Officer Kawalski down the block but he's now the exception, not the rule.

Why is it being assumed that she had nothing on underneath? I watched the video and it is possible that her sweater was pulled up with the abaya. We have all experienced that, that various layers are pulled up at once.

I also fail to understand what the relevance is. We saw how she was treated and that must be accounted for, irrespective of her person.

The SCAF have publically apologised for the incident.

The question is where is this woman.

If she was so severely beaten she would be in hospital but she is not. Where did she go?

Debate over authenticity of assault on Egyptian woman intensifies

Women also not convinced in this report.

    http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2011/12/21/183823.html

You would have thought the human rights groups would have been in the hospital by now taking her story and putting it out to the press by now.

    Seems she disappeared?

    Anyone know where she is?

Judging by the ferocity of the assault she could well be dead. If she doesn't appear we can take it that she has been spirited away by the cowards and brutes who beat her.

No you are wrong,on so... many.... things. You don't know all that she was wearing because they ripped it off her! Save your creepy defensive outrage of the attack for the guy that videoed this from his balcony.

This video came from the UK, fox had nothing to do with it.

How laughably pathetic. She's a monster, but not the helmeted cowards attacking a defenseless woman.
