There would be no greater example in all of history of the concept of cutting off your own nose to spite your face than if we broke apart the union because people are immature tribalists. If we actually go down that path, we will deserve all the folly and ruin it will bring.

I don't disagree, but on the other hand I don't think I'm willing to go to war to stop it if the West Coast decides to form Ectopia. It would be a tragedy, but the worse tragedy would be to go to war about it.

Economic sanctions?!?! That's funny! Blue States and counties are responsible for 70% of the GDP. And we own 70% of the military and weapons.

So I guess this is the comedy thread.

This is what you are all going to figure out very quickly one day - like a ton of bricks falling on your heads.

    We don't need you!

In fact we would be better off without you.

The red areas of those states would fight. Ultimately, those states would break up into pieces. Look …

    So what. Nobody lives there.

The vast majority of the population is blue. Red maps showing where you have a bunch of land but very few people are deceiving.

People do live there, they will not become a part of a breakaway country, and there would be no way to make them. Their areas would remain in the U.S.

Okay, so you want to make this a high school pissing match. LOL!

We own 70% of the military. Not red counties.

We have the brains, the weapons, the resources, and the means. We ARE what made the US. We ARE what made America great. And we don't need you.

No. I'm trying to help you think this through and to use some forethought.

If you form a new country, you will have to form your own military. It's not logical to think that the United States military is going to defect to a few western states blue cities.

    No. You really don't.

Lotsa luck. Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle don't grow any food. They also don't produce any fuel.

And those cities can't even police their own streets! And if they can't even police there own streets, they have exactly ZERO chance of forcefully imposing their will on rural people. ZERO chance.

So if you want to create a blue western country, your only option is to form something like an association of geographically disconnected counties that contain the large cities. There is no way to force those red areas into it. If you try to use force against those people, they are going to cut off your food, fuel, and goods that move along the interstates. You are asking for a battle you cannot win.

A smarter option (since your side is so smart) is to win elections and to govern well. And when you lose, be a gracious loser, don't have a tantrum, dust yourself off and get back on your horse.

That would be hard to prove - California has the most active duty personnel, and it would take a very deep dive in stats to
prove whether people were coming from an suburban red area of a state or a blue urban area - or even if they were Independent voters or
since many Americans don't even vote, if they gave a crap about politics at all.

I know it's hard for some posters on this site to understand - but millions of American just want to live lives, go fishing, go shopping, enjoy
life and not spend their days freaking out about politics. They aren't aligned with a party at all.

We know..... You build missiles for the Mossad.

Lol. Any new super secret stealth boat projects coming along?

You're deceiving yourself if you think the liberalism owns 70% of the military.

They are what's wussifying the military

43% of recruits come from the deep south.

The Deep South can include the Atlanta area, where Democrats are more prevalent, or the Miami Area, which includes more Democrats,
or the New Orleans area which includes more Democrats ... as I said, it's just hard to prove political affiliation by region - or if there
is any affiliation at all given that the majority of Americans don't identify with EITHER party these days.

The military is basically an extension of high tech these days. Much of the raw materials used by the military comes through the sea ports in large cities in California and Washington and New York/New Jersey. It's a mistake to think that more liberal voices aren't influencing the Military. A number
of Generals weren't pleased with the new Trumpism in Washington and have spoken out against it. I'm not claiming that the troops are majority
liberals - but I think you forget that the MAJORITY of Americans in general DO NOT identify with EITHER party these days.

Why would they want to be around the people they hate because they don't look, love and/or worship the way they do?

Are you saying they are aware that all the ones they deem inferior are subsidizing their existence? Talk about ungrateful. /smdh

MJ, I don’t understand your question at all. What I’m saying is there is no practical way for the western states to secede, while keeping the predominantly Republican areas in those states. Those people won’t give up their citizenship or their loyalty to the United States of America. They won’t do it, and those blue areas would have no way of making them do it. Being an Oregonian, I know those people and I know what I’m talking about.

    Oregon political map …
