This guy thinks he is a king and entitled to pissing away money for his family while cutting back further the safety net for the poorest of the poor.

    This is draining the swamp?

    Good they refused him

U.S. Secret Service spending to provide security for the lavish and far-flung travel of President Trump and his family – including Trump’s now almost weekly trips to his Florida resort for presidential consultations and golf – has gotten so out of hand that the agency recently requested a $60 million increase in its budget for the coming year.

Nearly half of the additional money that was sought in the fiscal 2018 budget request – or $26.8 million – was to be used to pay to protect Trump’s family and private home in New York’s Trump Tower. The remaining $33 million was for security related to travel incurred by “the president, vice president and other visiting heads of state.”

First lady Melania Trump and her young son, Barron, live in the family’s three-floor Manhattan penthouse, while Trump largely divides his time between the White House during the week and his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on weekends. Trump flew to Mar-a-Lago last Friday for his fifth post-inauguration weekend trip, just a day after OMB issued a federal budget proposal for the coming year seeking $54 billion in cuts in many government programs and agencies to offset the cost of a major military buildup.

Trump’s adult sons, Eric and Donald Jr., travel extensively overseas in running the family business and they receive round-the-clock Secret Service protection. Eric Trump’s trip to Uruguay in January to check on the progress of a Trump hotel reportedly cost taxpayers nearly $98,000 for agents’ hotel rooms.

This would be fifty percent increase in protecting the first family than it was last year, where obama spent 100,000,000.00 dollars on the protection of the first family. if you take into account the steady gains on the stock market, then this is justified, but i doubt it is sought. taxing the markets on each trade alone justifies this increase being owed to him, but that it is still a little eccentric is also a factor.

They are still international representatives, yes? this means there is some need to protect them, and, that they stand in the way of danger. if we were to observe that many of the politicians get body guards... it would stand to reason?

    he really conned the rubes

He vowed during the campaign to save the public money by working tirelessly in Washington and skipping extraneous or overly expensive trips. Since then, First Family travel and leisure has been taxing Secret Service resources.

Regardless of the twists used in the justification attempts the family/business cost/profit situation of the Trump dynamics are extremely unsettling. Not only are you using unrelated cost scenario you leave out the profit gained by Trump every time the Security we pay for checks into the hotel they protect which he owns. Basically we pay Trump to be paid...pretty sweet and smart business move.

He should write a book...perhaps "The Art of the Scam".

I don't consider them "international representatives" ... Unless they are cutting business deals for Trump dynasty, they are just the president's sons.

Trump did say that during the campaign. USSS agents are working hours and hours longer than capped overtime.

Correct, but his sons are hardly "international representatives".

He does have 5 kids compared to Obama's 2. His sisters and brother would also be given protection.

Are the grand children of a president also under protection? If so there's 8 of those.

I can see why the bill would cost more, it's more people to protect.

Trump has his own private squad of goons to protect him. When the money runs out with the Secret Service (which won't take long at this rate), Donnie should be on his own.

I think you've got the numbers wrong. We didn't spend $100,000,000 last year protecting the Obama family. That number is close to the cost for the entirety of President Obama's 8 years as president.

It's basic math. More people to protect equal higher costs. Are liberals bad at math? Apparently?

Donnie is running up a fortune in less than three months. Hopefully he won't be around much longer. How about his former trophy wives, are they covered by Secret Service as well?

So, you support this President not be protected by the SS? That's pretty sick.

Like I said, Donnie has his own goon squad. If his travels and constant weekends in West Palm Beach prove too much for the Secret Service budget, well.....anyway he's a billionaire, it's time he foots some of the bill. Maybe he'll actually spend more time in Washington. Learning how to make a deal.

Is it? That's funny, I don't remember you holding quite the same opinion when the right-wing (INCLUDING DONALD TRUMP) was suggesting the same thing during President Obama's presidency.

It says "the agency" requested the additional $60 million, not Trump, correct? So my question would be, how much are they paid yearly? That's a huge increase. Even if they hired an additional 50 employees (doubtful) and paid them $150K? The math isn't there to support $60 million.

The SS can't even secure the WH lawn. Hopefully the $60 million will be used to buy No-Doze and eyeglasses ... :disbelief:

Interesting Dem's are suddenly concerned with the relatively minor cost of Trump's security while defending tax payer funding for any & all causes they do support, even importing more immigrants and paying (bigly) for their transportation, food, housing and education. Not to mention they seem to have no problem with video's like Snoop made showing him pointing a gun at Trump's head.
It's getting a little sick, lib's. You need to chill out, a lot!
