    Respect Trump?

People actually "Respect" that EGREGIOUSLY UNPREPARED IMBECILE?

Trump has done NOTHING (in his term of office) EXCEPT to degrade the dignity of the office (and make himself completely UNWORTHY of respect).

Oh, and on topic, I am glad to see Tillerson go. :salute:

So, Trump has now officially decided to get rid of McMaster.

    Who's next?

JOURNALISM: Correction: Trump’s Pick to Head CIA Did Not Oversee Waterboarding of Abu Zubaydah: ProPublica erred when it reported in 2017 that Gina Haspel was in charge of a secret prison in Thailand during the infamous interrogation of an al-Qaida suspect.

    This is a colossal error.

I don't know what to make out of this. It is red hot-recent, so I can't find any rebuttals nor confirmations. Two things however:

    1: I don't see ProPublica in any of the sources of her Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gina_Haspel). That being said it was a reasonably-written article. Who are these guys and;

2: She still was "chief of base" in a clandestine prison where torture was routinely practiced, wasn't she? Just not in the time of "the famous interrogation of an al-Qaida suspect".

Correction: Trump’s Pick to Head CIA Did Not Oversee Waterboarding of Abu Zubaydah
ProPublica erred when it reported in 2017 that Gina Haspel was in charge of a secret prison in Thailand during the infamous interrogation of an al-Qaida suspect.

On Feb. 22, 2017, ProPublica published a story that inaccurately described Gina Haspel’s role in the treatment of Abu Zubaydah, a suspected al-Qaida leader who was imprisoned by the CIA at a secret “black site” in Thailand in 2002.

The story said that Haspel, a career CIA officer who President Trump has nominated to be the next director of central intelligence, oversaw the clandestine base where Zubaydah was subjected to waterboarding and other coercive interrogation methods that are widely seen as torture. The story also said she mocked the prisoner’s suffering in a private conversation. Neither of these assertions is correct and we retract them. It is now clear that Haspel did not take charge of the base until after the interrogation of Zubaydah ended.

But hey, an online posting by a former CIA guy said she did.... so we ran with it!

We also found an online posting by John Kiriakou, a former CIA counter-terrorism officer, who wrote that “It was Haspel who oversaw the staff” at the Thai prison, including two psychologists who “designed the torture techniques and who actually carried out torture on the prisoners.”

The nomination of Haspel this week to head the CIA stirred new controversy about her role in the detention and interrogation of terror suspects, as well as the destruction of videotapes of the interrogation of Zubaydah and another suspect. Some critics cited the 2017 ProPublica story as evidence that she was not fit to run the agency.

This is the Leftwing Smear/Lie/Slander rumor mill, run in collusion with the Fake News Media, that only Trump seems to be able to stand against.

Feinstein to CIA Director Nominee Haspel: You Were the Head Torturer, The Media Tells Me
    Haspel: That's Incorrect
    Feinstein: But It Says Here
    Haspel: It's Been Corrected
    Feinstein: But--
    Haspel: WRONG

Feinstein is as lucid as you'd imagine a 104 year old to be.

Haspel pointed out that reporters had corrected the story and even chided other media organizations for misreporting the claim, but Decrepit Addlebrained Feinstein insisted on reading the erroneous, widely-discredited quote anyway.

    Video at the link.

They don't flip'n bother with anything more than a first-draft google search? Are they lucid enough to be embarrassed? Will her staff get reamed for being so worthless at the important task of properly preparing her to engage in her constitutional duty to advice and consent to the President's selection of the head of the Flippin CIA?

    My goodness!

So what? Brennan was, at the time of the use of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques, the #4 ranking official in the CIA, and Brennan spent a great deal of time defending the practices before eventually changing his mind about it just as Haspel has.

Even McCain was willing to let bygones be bygones and voted for Brennan.

Nothing Haspel said today makes me believe she doesn't have a basement with a stretch rack in mint condition.
