Sen. Rubio: Twitter Now a Publisher and Should No Longer By Shielded from Liability

Interesting view, he says Twitter is no longer just a conduit for it's users opinions, with the ridiculous 'fact checking' of Trump (done by a biased CNN hack, funny they never fact checked their Collusion Delusion lies for years), they are now issuing content and taking sides, making them a publisher and fair game for defamation lawsuits. Note there was no Twitter fact checking of Adam Schiff's lies or of any other Democrat. Let the lawsuits begin!

Do you need the relevant Supreme Court cases regarding message boards? You can send high heels Rubio and review.

Also, there is a difference between someone tweeting a legit "opinion" and someone tweeting that "1+1=3" .

The point is, Twitter taking an active role in 'factchecking' anybody is not in twitter's purview, or even in its interest. Can you imagine if moderators 'fact-checked' each and every post of ours? And based on who's "facts"? Fact-checking has become more of an industry unto itself, rather than the discovery of truth.

 

No the private business can use whatever fact check they want.

 

Do you think if I accuse you of murder the moderators will have anything to say? Does that make PF a publisher?

They aren't editing, or altering, Trump's tweets in any way, so they aren't exercising an "editorial role".

Not really, the point is that the individuals posting on twitter(or on here) would be the publishers, all twitter/PF is are the hosts. And if you did accuse me of murder, I would reply that the accusation is baseless and there isn't even a body. Hell, there isn't even a weapon or a motive lol.

No, I'm saying there's basic laws/expectations already on the books. The idea that our posts/opinions could be subject to editing or altering by another person violates the premise of free speech if not the principle.

 

What about private companies that achieve utility status? Should the phone companies be allowed to take sides and screen your calls?

The trouble is social media is longer a free market of ideas. They are censoring content based on politics rather than on facts.
