There is an ecosystem imbalance somewhere somehow the natural food chain is disrupted and so many factors that can be considered both climactic or else human attributes.

WWF and more than 125,000 of our US supporters today urged the Obama administration to take strong action to end the global illegal fishing epidemic.

The US has an unprecedented opportunity to put a dent in the global trade of illegal seafood later this month when a presidential task force is expected to present to President Obama a set of recommendations outlining the steps the federal government should take to prevent illegal fish from ending up on our dinner plates.

    True!
Hadn't thought of the that one. It comes out when anyone favors freedoms over statism.

There are two major currents that meet of the coast of NC, which may contribute to the situation there.

Yep it is why Cape Hatteras makes for good surf, but even as far south as Daytona, the Atlantic side water is murky compared to the Gulf side every time I have been in those places.

Ok, you're right. There's too many to kill off. This was in October. Should have been a warning for the coming summer.

One theory is the sharks have learned how to trap schools of fish there for feeding, which is possible. Blackbeard used to trap ships there to loot. German subs in WWII hunted those waters too.
But, hey. Life gives you lemons, make lemonade. From a marketing perspective, the tourist industry could promote prime fishing over swimming for this area.

Oh no sir!! You would have the shark huggers going into berserker mode, if you did that.

I remember this television program about this chap who loved grizzlies and went each year to Alaska to protect and commune with the grizzles, which he would talk to like he was talking to a baby human. When I first saw that program, I told my grandkids that this guy was gonna get his arse eaten, sooner or later. Well, it happened later, and since his girlfriend went with him on his last trip, a grizzly killed and ate her too. Being a genuine grizzly hugging modern liberal social anarchist, he didn't think he needed a gun. LOL.

But we have been told, countless times by the lovers of sharks, and the shark experts that sharks hardly are interested in attacking people, that they have been hyped up as dangerous killers of humans. Well, tell that to the crew of the Indianapolis.

With that said, when I used to take the family on our yearly vacation to florida, I never went into the sea early morning or right before dark. And if there had been just on shark attack in the general area, with that area being a hundred miles, you would not catch me going into the water, which cannot be said of those people chewed up recently by sharks.

If swimmers had a torpedo launcher no shark would dare come close so we need more weapons.

Restore shark fishing would make more sense. The swimmers who caught one had to turn it loose b/c it was deemed too small to keep. It was 6 ft. long, certainly not a baby shark.

    And yet another one:

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/marine-8th-n-shark-attack-victim-month-article-1.2284265

Who goes to the beaches? White people.
This shark fishing ban is obviously another marxist attack on white culture. Had this been a black activity, the media would be screaming that the ban was rayciss! against blacks. The tuna fisherman are getting only half eaten fish which is no good to them. Yet the 'experts' tell the media they are baffled and that shark numbers are down. The attacks must be attributed to more people at the beaches and 'climate change' caused by man. Nice excuse for their derelict regulations, huh?

We should also hunt down and kill Hippo's everywhere they exist.

    "Death Toll: 500+ per year

Although hippos may look cute and friendly, they are definitely one animal you do not want to cross. Easily frightened and extremely aggressive, hippos will not hesitate to attack a human, especially if one of its young babies are near. Hippos pose the biggest threat to those living in the continent of Africa."

Not worth anything on the fish market. Bull sharks aren't particularly tasty. That said, I don't understand why they released it.

Well, I live in Florida and go to the beach almost every weekend. I agree about not going into the ocean at early morning or at dusk--I call that time "feeding time" as most critters--nocturnal and diurnal are awake and feeding at that time. I'd actually swim in the ocean in the middle of the night before I'd do it at dawn or dusk.

Shark fishing is legal in North Carolina. The only controversy about shark fishing is that a lot of the piers don't allow shark fishing, but thats because to fish for sharks, you usually chum for them, which attracts them. You don't want to be attracting sharks to the beach on purpose.

Well, the size limit for most sharks in NC is 54 inches--that's 4 1/2 feet long. It was not too small.

Watch the video. The tuna fisherman tell about the increase in sharks that they're seeing and the half eaten fish that is hurting their business.

By this time next year, all private health insurance policies will have shark exclusions. AND, your rates will go up. AND, if you have a pre-existing shark bite you won't be able to get coverage at all.

I don't watch videos for information. If it's not written, I don't care about it.

Anyway, my main point was that

Witty? Hardly. Ignorant more appropriate. If this person had bothered to follow the thread they'd know that the environmentalists are saying shark numbers are down, when they are actually up, based on experienced fishermen's observations. They are getting half eaten tuna. Some swimmers caught a 6ft shark and had to turn it loose because it's too small by the regulations set by animal rights' extremists. To them, sharks are more valuable than humans. Swimmers and fisherman are being hurt by this liberal agenda. THOSE are the political implications that you would know, had you and he bothered to peruse this thread and news stories contained herein.

And the lies keep being exposed. These liberal animal nuts can't get their story straight.

California has 90% fewer shark bites than they did in the 1950's, yet they have hundreds of thousands more people. :eyepopping:

    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/storie...COL-?SITE=VADAR&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

It's more people, and more shark prey like turtles, that's it!
On the left coast it's more prey that's keeping them from biting people, which has increased.

Gee, this reminds us of climate change.
    Ice Age!
    No, Global Warming!
Call it Climate Change and we're covered!!!
