Desperate times call for desperate measures. And for the cash-strapped Democratic National Committee, that means reversing a policy of not accepting money from people who are employed by fossil fuel companies.

“We have to draw the line that we are indeed a party of a big tent where all working people are welcome," said DNC Chairman Tom Perez on Friday night. "We’re not a party that punishes workers simply based on how they make ends meet.”

As reported by the Washington Examiner, "Perez sponsored the Friday resolution that allows the DNC to accept contributions from workers that are employed by fossil fuel firms, such as those that mine coal, drill for and refine natural gas and oil."

The resolution originally passed in June. Perez claims the decision to change teir policy again is to signal that they are a big tent party, but one can't help but wonder if it has more to do with the fact the DNC is majorly in debt. Heading into the summer, the DNC had nearly $5.7 million worth of debt and with $8.7 million of cash on hand. The Republican National Committee, however, had zero debt and nearly 5 times the amount of cash on hand.

Despite the DNC's change of heart and opening of wallets on fuel donations, Perez maintains that the party is committed to fighting climate change.....snip~

Ahahahaha…..The Demos are desperate for money. Still in debt and its obvious they are worried about having money for this Mid Term. I don't think they counted on their DNC being in debt.

Perez will keep pushing the Socialism and Liberals will continue to give very little money to their cause. Wat say ye?

Yeah, they have been hurting for cash since 2016, people just aren't motivated to give to them.

Their biggest collector, Bill Clinton, has been hidden away with the #Metoo movement, he's an embarrassment to them, and Obama is to self absorbed to bother fundraising so they really have nobody to draw in money.

Hillary is so hated by both sides that she wouldn't bring in anything even if she tried, besides, she's too drunk all the time to bother with it.

I wouldn't be too hard on them about this. This is how politics works, after all. This is precisely the same dynamic that is causing the DNC to distance itself from Socialism as well- a move based on popular demand that is good for the country.

This is the system responding to the will of The People, as designed. Some 'sugar coating' is to be expected.

Or the DNC is starting to realize that money alone will not keep them in office.

The DNC has been taking Fossil Fuel, even Tar Sands money for a long time. Tom Steyer made his first fortune dirtying the planet. Now that he's made it filthy, he's making a fortune cleaning up his own mess. Think the DNC hasn't been taking Brown Money from Steyer for a long time? Think again.

Well, and we know they get money from Soros and Buffet. Zuckerberg and Gates, Spielberg etc etc. But so far they haven't bailed the DNC out. Which the DNC still is falling more into debt as they spread out for the Mid Term.

They might not be in such bad shape had they not transferred so much money to their nominee.
