Should Americans have been more willing to sacrifice lives for the economy?

  1. Yes. The measures taken to protect lives were to extreme, and did more harm than good.

Short term pain - long term gain. If we had been serious about lockdowns and stay at home orders, insisted upon grocery and drug delivery and instituted curfews, restricted travel and required negative covid tests for entry into the country for a short time, we'd have turned the corner far more quickly. But with a wishy washy response, businesses have died along with people. Just my two cents

You are right of course, but what you ask for was not possible. People were not, and still are not, prepared with a stockpile of necessary goods to get them through a week, let alone several months of lockdown.

Deliveries would require a large labor force in addition to the folks already working in the manufacturing and production process.

A US President does not have the authority to order a national lockdown.

I don't think it impossible at all. And it wouldn't have to be for several months. Grocery delivery was made available near me - and something they'd never done before. It just required 'out of the box' thinking - and no additional staff was required when all were reassigned for the delivery process.

Americans don't like to think outside the box except for when we pay specifically for it on holiday. Otherwise, NOTHING MUST CHANGE WHAT SO EVER ABOUT MY IDEA OF THE AMERICAN DREAM!

Everyone here loves America SOOOO much, except for the things THEY want to change about it to make it better. :)

This isn't a knock against any person or party. Its just how humans operate.
