Turns out the "poo" they slung at Barrett at least ended up being true.

This is becoming a common theme among Repubs. One borne out of an apparent feeling of guilt. Like, "if you'd only have run faster you wouldn't have been shot by the guy I want to own that AR-15." Or, "you need to do better to keep me from following my natural impulse to be so awful."

That can be true. What also can be true is Dems can decide elections by notoriously being apathetic in midterm voting. My hope is the vote on abortion by the religoids on the court make Dems realize they will lose more civil rights if they don't get involved.

The only authoritarians here are those who oppose the SCOTUS decision.

As much as I understand this...........https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/su...d-kavanaugh-gorsuch-abortion-rights-rcna35230

..........is a CYA move by two senators trying to appease constituents from both sides of the abortion issue, anyone who thinks Gorsuch, Schlitz Kavanaugh, and Barrett did not purposely misrepresent their positions on abortion during the nomination process is kidding themselves. Here is how not misrepresenting themselves would have looked. Question; do you believe Roe should be overturned? Absolutely yes.

Is it? I wouldn't know as I am not a Republican

You have 2 parties who are getting more and more extreme - either you stay in power, or the pendulum swings back the other way. I am making a statement of fact. It was Hillary's fault that we got Trump. Trumps fault that that we have Biden. Now we are heading back to the Republican control thanks to Biden

The only way to stop this cycle is for a party to govern from the middle, stop with the vendettas and never ending lies/manipulation/blaming etc

Anyone who took them at their word during their confirmation hearing was kidding themselves too. There was never a doubt in my mind once ACB was confirmed that Roe v Wade was in major jeopardy

You just did the same thing again. How is it that in your mind Repubs get a pass for electing an immoral, pathologically lying, would be autocrat who couldn't find his way out of a five sided box?

That's a very caviler attitude to take about SC justice nominees lying during the confirmation process. Walking to the water's edge of perjury in the process. Any problem with McTreason's obscene abuse of power making it possible for her nomination in the first place?

Who is giving anyone a pass? I didn't vote for the narcissistic conman and I criticize any one that defends him

I am just discussing why the results were what they were

Trump won the nomination because the Republican field was too crowded and he got too much momentum with a solid base that the other candidates didn't have
Hillary was chosen and pushed by the DNC, but was so unlikeable millions voted against her

Run a better candidate and the Trump crap never happens. Millions upon millions do support that and you or I complaining about it won't change that

Yes he was wrong, but Dems would have done the same thing

Both parties are crap, but many just think that their side's crap doesn't stink

In any event, all that is crying over spilled milk. The takeaway for Dems should be (I can't believe they haven't learned the lesson yet) Repubs will abuse their power in any and all ways possible to achieve their ends. Even when those ends are clearly opposed by the majority of the country.

Did they lie? At the time of their hearings, it was a "...settled law of the land." If was a SCOTUS ruling that was not, at the time, being challenged before the courts. After their hearings, the liberals challenged the Abortion law passed in Mississippi. The lower courts are the ones that introduced Row into the arguments. At the time of Justice Kavanaugh's confirmation, the case Dobb v Jackson had not even been ruled on. It was 11 months after Barrett's confirmation that the SCOTUS heard oral arguments on the case. So, they did not lie. The case was settled law until legal arguments were held before the SCOTUS.

Now, should we dig Ginsburg up to punish her for fighting to keep Row v Wade when she said that the case was settled on very shaky legal ground?

No, it just isn't. It's a rationalization for the unprecedented, treacherous act McTurtle did. One there is no defense for, hence your need to invoke a seemingly innocuous meme.

Biden, Pelosi, Schiff, Schumer should all be sainted

    Happy?

But not because she didn't think women had the right to abortion. She thought the ruling should have been based on a women's right to privacy under the equal protection clause of the 14th A.

Not what I said. Clearly Dems have flaws. I said it's a false equivalence to suggest they are equally bad. It's a cop out. Surely you aren't going to tell me you think a Dem prez who lost an election would attempt a coup, are you? Or that 147 Dem congressmen would support the effort?

Well, they are going to be there for at least 20+ years and yes, they lied. Regardless, women must assess their need to control their bodily autonomy and vote in November 2022. The Senate is up.....

Governor races are going to be big, especially in PA

If Mastriano wins, then PA is going to ban abortion

True, and whether one votes is largely determined by the intensity of a negative attitude toward the current state of affairs and the personal impact it has, not demonstrably causative American policies.

E,g. gasoline prices rise and fall globally. The global average price of a gallon of gas is currently about $5.13, according to GlobalPetrolPrices.com. No U.S. president has control over a global rise in price.
