I grew up watching the smurfs as a kid. So I know that christianity is the template of the cartoon show. Papa Smurf is the Pope, Jesus or a catholic priest. How do we know this? he's the only one who wears red clothing. The color of blood, pain and suffering. The color that represents many things in christianity. Papa smurf also has a white beard. I think that's obvious. He's much like Jesus. He also uses magik in the show.

The smurfs all wear white. the color of purity and the apostles. The community of the Smurfs is based on christianity. Papa smurf is always teaching good to them, much like jesus did. The different smurfs represent all of our sins and human elements. the smurfs work together in a closed community, always attacked by an evil force...Gargamel who represents the pesky Atheits.

Therefore, Atheists shouldn't watch this movie.

EDIT. Compare the Pope's and Papa's Smurfs hand gesture...same right?

    The Smurfs was about Communism.

Gargamel was the greedy capitalist trying to turn them into gold!

Who are the Smurfs? Well, Stali...... I mean Papa Smurf is a communist, hence he wears red.

Yes, Gargamel was Atheist. Pure evil communist. I agree with you there...But Not the smurfs. They were a christian community/group doing good for others and at one point even tried to forgive and help Gargamel.

Did you ever see the cartoons? Papa smurf was no communist. The entire series was about sending a good christian message to children, disgused as a cartoon. I thought it was great. Gargamel was a typical Atheist, hungry, angry and lonely.

Being good and being Christian are unrelated. If you're trying to teach a kid to be good, it is not the same thing as tryign to teach them to be Christian.

Now I've treated this thread with more seriousness than it deserves.

The ones who couldn't care less about obsessive social analysis of a silly little kids film could. I'm not going to watch it because it'll likely be commercial popularist trash.

Why would I watch The Smurfs if I can watch......... anything else that is not directed towards a young audience?

    The OP makes a non-point.

Nobody should watch the Smurfs, especially if you are over the age of 7 maybe 8.

Did YOU every watch the cartoon?

"The Smurfs' community generally takes the form of a cooperative, sharing, and kind environment based on the principle that each Smurf has something he or she is good at, and thus contributes it to Smurf society as he or she can. In return, each Smurf appears to be given their necessities of life, from housing and clothes to food without using any money in exchange."

What the hell does that sound like?

I mean, they refer to each other by their PROFESSION for Christ's sake.

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that the smurfs were communist. Gargamel's cat is even named after an angel.
