Where do you see anyone taking the position that the right to vote should only be based on political party affiliation?

I think you misunderstood my point. A left wing Democrat started this thread advocating for convicted felons to be able to vote and have guns. The left panders to disenfranchised groups and promises them stuff for votes. That's how they gain power. I guess the convicted felon demographic is starting to look like a big enough group to help Democrats win elections, which is more important than anything, so the left's foot soldiers are starting their rallying cry.

No tax payer should ever have their voting rights taken away. All felons should be allowed to vote, or they should not have to pay taxes.

Absolutely, everyone deserves at least a second chance. Multiple felonies over many years, perhaps not. But if you just have one blip on your record it should not be held against you forever.

A person does not need to have a prior conviction overturned to have their voting Rights re-instated.

It isn't. A person with only one conviction for a felony can petition and have their voting rights re-instated as soon as their sentence is complete. Most generally don't file the petition because often they're not even interested in voting but they have the Right to. In virtually all cases where a petition is filed those Rights are re-instated. The State would have to provide a compelling argument as to why that Right shouldn't be re-instated and that rarely happens.
