I am a male, and if one holds the door open for me, male or female, I say thank you.

I also hold the door open for people, male or female. Almost always get a thank you.

Why would anyone be upset if someone holds a door open for them?

What, you give me a Like then tell me you don't understand it? Actually it's so succinct I didn't expect anyone to understand it.

If a man opens the door for me his chance of getting laid goes up 17.3%.

Nothing like getting out of the car at a busy restaurant, your guy opening the door for you, and all the other ladies looking at their guys with that "look".

    Hahaha

Pulling out the chair for me is a huge bonus also.

No one has ever seemed or acted offended when I open a door for a woman.

I've opened the door for men and women alike - from California to Florida to Montana ... never had anyone complain and usually get a, "thank you."
I think that some conservatives are hoping to make a mountain out of a molehill so they can blame feminism for some grand conspiracy.

It's the 3rd & 4th wave, cultural warrior - pink p---- hat wearing friends of mine in corporate hubs of metropolitan America that take issue (as previously stated) posts # 13 & 16. My intention was to explore the emergence of cultural issues and subset sentiments, larger than our own anecdotal, personal experiences.

Should there be push back to the movement in general; why or why not...?

No. Because it's not a "movement". It's a very small segment of society. And there will always be a few people angry about one thing or another. If you don't feed their hatred, it withers. If you give it a sense of importance by creating a counter-movement - then it grows into something larger.

Each and every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Verging on the absurd, lol. What were there, something like 4.5 mil at that one women's march alone, in early 2017.

The DNC has worked in synergy w/ academia (kindergarten - University) & the global uprisings in factions of women's lib / suffrage / feminism movements. It has become largely a forgone societal conclusion, in the swaths of blue & beyond that - having a particular type of genitalia or skin color supersedes objective qualifications, ROTFL... Just look at the tsunami of HRC engendered 'time for a woman' support which has only grown since.

    - Few days ago, here's (old white guy Brennan commenting on the SOTU, notice what's at the forefront of his mind...

(as a minority female, I'm the first to call BS on much of this movement)

There was a time long ago, far far a way, when I was a radical feminist type fresh out of college and made it a point to push the left door open myself, if the right one was being opened for me by a guy. So sad to be so hateful when someone is making an act of kindness. I say an act of kindness, even if not accepted or appreciated, still sticks with a person, those who appreciate it and those who don't, and can change the world.

Ahh. I see. You equate every woman who marched for equal pay or abortion rights as being someone who gets angry if a door is held open for them. Now who's being absurd. 1% of a group does not equal the group.

Those females that take exception (among other things) to doors being opened for them. are part of a growing wave of 'protected class' entitlement mentality that is part in parcel w/ that of 'white privilege', LBGQT privilege etc etc. Like it or not this thread has gladly gotten more substantive & it is the paradigmatic societal & mentality shifts that we are now getting into. So lets not conflate the act of opening the door, as Not being representative, of the underlying progressive machinations behind the offense being taken.

haven't run into anyone being offended by it, however, i've come across a substantial amount that ignore the fact the door was held for them, as if they expect it and earned it... for those i remark, rather sternly "you are welcome, btw you should see a doctor about that bug up your azz" ...
