I know I'm over reacting some but I have no sympathy for anyone who runs into a 'snag' because of their refusal to vax. F**** 'em.

If the Nazi regime in Australia says you must have the juice then he needs to have the juice. He apparently dosent have the juice so no, he don’t play.

    Nazi regime in Australia?
Are there any Australians here who could comment on that?

I voted no but a small part of me want's to see a stadium full of angry Australians boo him and chant abuse from start to finish of every match he plays.

As far as I know, the Australian Open starts on the 17th of January.
I do hope it will start without this cheating Novak.

I am not so much interested in tennis any more - so it took me some time to hear about this case.

According to the federal government that loophole is only available to residents.

He claimed to have had Covid.
And the day after allegedly being tested positive with Covid, he posed with groups of children.
Either way something is very wrong

He has certainly got a lot of media attention over this. Not favorable either.

Novak Djokovic successfully appeals the cancellation of his visa, clearing the way for him to compete in Australian Open

A judge in Australia overturned a decision to cancel Djokovic’s visa, meaning the world’s top-ranked men’s tennis player can remain in the country and compete in the upcoming Australian Open. Djokovic has been confined to a Melbourne hotel since Thursday after his visa was canceled upon his arrival in the country Wednesday night. Federal authorities said he had failed to meet the requirements for an exemption from vaccination against the coronavirus.

Djokovic is a cheater? Are you claiming he cheats in tennis? I don't follow tennis that closely but I did not know he had a reputation for cheating. I thought he was the world's #1 player.

    I see!

That has nothing related to his sport. When you accuse an athlete of cheating people are going to assume it is related game play.

That is entirely the wrong question, though highlights why he was given special treatment (for good and bad, I feel). If this was some random businessman travelling to Australian, I suspect the situation would have been very different and we probably wouldn't be talking about it.

The real and simple question is whether he should have been granted/get to retain his Australian visa, specifically in relation to their COVID regulations. It sounds like the Australian tennis authorities declared that he could enter (even though they have no right to do so) but they obviously had a vested interest in him playing. The Australian federal authorities appear to have baulked at the impression (true or not) of his getting specially treatment.

Ultimately, I'd suggest that it is his own responsibility to ensure that he meets the requirements to enter the country and he shouldn't have simply taken the word of tennis authorities. He's been somewhat dropped in it but played a role in creating that situation himself. The correct answer will almost certainly boil down to procedural details and technicalities, though the actual outcome will boil down to politics anyway.

I find it telling (and a little disappointing) that the word "health" doesn't even get a look-in.
