    Hello,

after the statues removal in USA, I just red that an "anti racist" association of France wanting all public schools named colbert to change their name. Colbert was the minister of economy of king Louis XIV (1638-1715), and it's under his reign the "code negre" was published. The aimed was to put rules in slavery, it's probably one of the most terrifing document of european history.
But many people are named Mohammed or Muhammed. Muhammed was a slaver. If the aim is to make all the legacy of slaver disappear, wouldn't be logical for all people called Muhammed to change their name ? Muslims give the name muhammed to their children as a tribute to the prophet, should people really give tribute to a slaver ?

No, and we shouldn't be pressuring them to remove their hijabs and burkas either. They want to stand out in society by telling us"we are not like you and we don't obey your customs", so this our best way of identifying them. We can then protect ourselves from them. The worst thing would be to make it easier for them to blend in.

So we're now back to how a person dress, determines who they are?

His name is still a hommage to a slaver.

Does it bother you ... ?

Because I'm sure it didn't bother him.
