should protesters reject treatment if infected?

Seems to me that in exercising one's freedoms and rights by protesting the goverment's tryannical pandemic measures and generally being an arse, should at least sign waivers, in their obvious true belief their right to go to a bar trump's any potential existential threat to others they may become by getting infected by ignoring reality.

Afterall, protest is a foundational right but healthcare is a privileged service in America.

Does one waive their rights to anything when they are petitioning their government and peacefully redressing greivances? Of course not. Since the data and the death toll in my state is now suggesting that Covid19 is less than one-fifth as deadly as the flu, are you willing to grant the government unlimited emergency power for an emergency which in retrospect is extremely minor, relatively speaking? Are you willing to grant the government the power to extend an emergency indefinitely? Are you willing to grant the government the right to continue draconian enforcement and intrusion into the daily lives of its citizens even after the number of deaths in my state were downgraded from 458,000, to 22,000, to 1,800, down to 171, and finally to less than 100? (Keep in mind, the avergae death toll from the flu in my state is 572.) Are you willing to risk setting a precedent where the government can shut down people's lives for the flu, which is far more deadly than Covid19? How about a bad cold? Maybe the sniffles? If you are in favor of granting your governement unlimited powers in this case, is there ever a point where you would petition your government to redress greivances? If so, what is that point? Should asking your government to change its policies have potentially fatal consequences? I think that should pretty much answer the OPs question.

Good point. I’d agree as soon as everyone against capitalism leaves the country because everything we have is based on it. Have a nice life. ;)

Memes are great. So much easier than thinking for ones self. Perhaps we should have grocery workers sign the same waiver.

So you are asking people who are concerned about loss of freedom to give up more freedom just because of your feelings? Meh. Authoritarianism stinks, and it has no olfactory organs of its own. :)

Is this selective out rage? I think so. Ok let's go with your line of thought. So with that said you must be for rejection care to anyone injured committing a criminal act, any diabetes treatment to overweight people with adult onset diabetes, any one hurt doing extreme sports, no aids treatment for anyone who do unprotected sex, and so forth. By your logic almost no one in the United States would be treated for anything.

I think many will make their selection based on whether or not the medication was ever mentioned by President Trump.
I wish them well in their decision.

I'm just wondering who we say 'sieg heil' to, the governors or the lab coat rats? Because it's clear that our Republic has been sodomized and screwed over.

I am rethinking my original response to the OP. Perhaps the better response is to ask should those who support the loss of basic human freedoms under the guise of a health crisis be forced to sign a waiver stating that they forfeit those basic human freedoms after the crisis is over? If you are unwilling to allow the petition of a redress of grievences, do you really deserve basic human freedoms?

Those opposing border security can sign a disclosure taking financial responsibility for illegal aliens!

    This if fun!

No they should not. That is one slippery slope.

I mean all the nut bags protesting the military, should they wave their right to be protected by said military?

    No.

I’m looking right at you Berkeley California!

Honestly Canada, if you want Berkeley you can have it...free...no strings except you have to take the liberals there with it. No give backs on them after they annoy the hell out of you with their constant whining...

It’s amazing to watch a police state occurring in some areas and not only are people accepting it, they are applauding it. I wonder how many dictatorships started with the phrase “we are doing this to protect you...”

Thank God people are already starting to push back...and that we have our 2A rights to help secure things if need be.

OP wants no one to question or protest their rights taken away on the grounds of a little safety. I think we all know the old saying about people like that.

They paid nothing for their freedoms or liberties and have no true understanding or appetition for those that did. They think freedom is free so why not give it away. They are a coddled soft entitled group as a whole. It's fairly disgusting to behold them applaud their liberty being taken away.

And then they want to know why any of us "need" a firearm.

    The man in my avatar.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bonham

Died at 29 years of age for freedom. Knowingly rode to his death to be part of the defense of it.

Today we have many people his age cheering on the police state in areas of this country as they sit on their couch complaining about slow WIfi.

They're not protesting the basic stay at home things. Thier protesting the draconian enforcement of it. Seriously, did they really need to arrest a guy paddling along in the middle of a river? The guy was no where near anyone. Do they need to arrest people going to a secondary home? The answer to both is a firm NO. It's that kind of thing that they protested. Furthermore every single picture I've seen of the protest they were practicing social distancing. So it's obvious that they have no problem with the basic stay at home order.

And yes...I know... the media made sure to make a point of only airing the few stupid ones that wanted the entire stay at home orders rescinded. Should I post a few youtube videos that show liberals believing that black people don't know how to get an ID or use, much less have the internet? Point being that it's quite common to use selective editing to make the other side look stupid. Which is why I pointed out that all the photos that I've seen the protestors were practicing social distancing. Something that they can't hide. And that shows that the majority of them are not against "the closing of bars" or whatever.

The Constitution doesn't come with a waiver. Even Chairman Xi's views are allowed to be expressed here. Bravo!

As you can see from the conservative responses, these posters want the freedom to act as irresponsibly as they want, but they don't want to face the consequences of their irresponsible actions. In the free market society they envision, they should be financially responsible for any harm they inflict on others, i.e. getting health care workers sick or dead, prolonging the lockdown, thus hurting businesses etc. Of course, they will be perfectly happy to socialize these responsibilities, showing their hypocrisy.

So you think Americans should accept whatever rights are infringed upon, because they might need medical care in the future? So the constitution is no longer relevant if people are sick?

You don't have a right to behavior that can harm others. Thus, your argument holds no water.

Here is an example did you catch this story

Man handcuffed in front of daughter at Brighton park for allegedly violating social distancing
    https://kdvr.com/news/man-arrested-...ark-for-allegedly-violating-social-distancing/
And there is video with voice over saying a man being arrested "for throwing a ball to his daughter" and that is what I saw reported on cable news and the outraged host and everyone gets outraged and how dare the police yada yada yada.

Well if you read the story the park was closed. They have closed lots ofbparks where I live especially sports parks even taking down basketball hoops because people were violating the closures. The city closes them and instructs the police to enforce such closures because playing those sports presents a virus hazard. So two people violate that order and four people see them so they violate it and sixteen people see them and pretty soon you have crowds.

Further reading the story the guy wasn't out in handcuffs because he was tossing a ball with his daughter. He refused to cooperate with the police. HE decided what he was doing was OK and even refused to provided ID telling his daugther he did not have to cooperate with the LAWFUL orders of the police.

"Mooney told the FOX31 Problem Solvers he refused to provide his identification to three police officers because he was confident he wasn’t doing anything unlawful by playing tee-ball with his wife and daughter at the park.

“She's like, ‘Daddy, I don't want you to get arrested.' At this point I'm thinking, 'There's no way they're going to arrest me, this is insane.' I'm telling her, ‘Don't worry, Daddy's not going to get arrested. I've done nothing wrong. Don't worry about it,’ and then they arrest me."

Former Brighton City Councilman Kirby Wallin recorded much of the incident on his cellphone, where you can hear his voice narrate the scene.

“He’s being taken by the Brighton police for playing softball with his daughter in an empty park," Wallin said."

I have no reason to believe if he had simply said "no problem office we'll go home a toss our ball" it would have ended with no problem.

If everyone followed all the guidelines about gatherings and social distancing on a purely volunteer basis there would be no need for government closures and enforcements. But unfortunately there are plenty who will not and that presents a public health issue and a danger to the public not just themselves.
