Actually, I've heard that they would rather get their money through trade than from any handouts. I think it was on either the Start Here podcast or the Power House Politics podcast.

Most people would rather have decent paying jobs and pay their own expenses rather than have government help in the form of Social Security, Medicaid, or public transportation. But if elites such as corporations can make multi billion dollars profits from government such as Bechtel and Halliburton, then all others can rightfully expect government handouts as well.

Funny thing is, so many people like to believe that it is blacks, Latinos, and Native Americans who are all on welfare when, in fact, the vast majority of welfare recipients are white such as these farmers. Mebbe now the right wingers will say these welfare recipients should be sent back to Europe (???).

A lot easier just to let them vote

Why can't they vote now, seeing as they are citizens

Brewskier et al notwithstanding the idea that they'd mostly vote Democrat is no more valid as a reason to deny them the franchise than the argument that they're "brown"

They -can- vote and do so as often as we do.
But, they aren't a state so they do not have representation in Congress or the electoral college.

The present governor belongs to the party which is the equivalent of the Republican party. Sure, give them the vote. But hopefully, they will smarten up and realize that the GOP is their enemy and that things have gotten really screwed up since they voted his party into power.

Pay their debt first. And arrest all the politicians there who caused the problem. Then I would say Yes!

While we're at it, let's arrest all who caused the farmers debts:

I'd say yes. It just makes sense. I say either make them a state or set them free to be an independent country. The status quo is silly.

Have nothing against the people but given its location and problems, it will become another anchor that will sink our economy.

Does the U.S. need PR? Perhaps it could be sold or auctioned off?

I think simply given it's independence would be fair.
