Should Quebec Conservative M. P's join Bernier?

I have the impression that many Conservative M. P's in the province of Quebec will not be able to get re-elected due to the stance that Mr. Andrew Scheer has taken regarding pot.

I think that the Maxime Bernier position will go over much more favourably in the province of Quebec.

Although Mr. Andrew Scheer is backtracking....
which is a good idea.....
I get the impression that the damage may already be done and it may be safer in 2019 to be a PPC incumbent M. P. than a Conservative?

.... but...... his initial reaction on behalf of one part of his Conservative Party base of support may already
have nearly doomed his party in Quebec.......

I am certain that the majority of Quebec voters will tend to trust Mr. Maxime Bernier and his PPC much more than Scheer's Conservative Party.

I posted a message to a People's Party of Canada Policy Discussion forum and I am rather in awe at the calibre of the replies:

Should a priority for the PPC to be to go back to the brilliant usage of the Bank of Canada initiated by P. M. Mackenzie King in 1940 that saved Canadian taxpayers billions of dollars in interest payments until P. M. Pierre E. Trudeau abandoned that policy in 1974?

Or.... it is just too difficult to educate Canadians about this?

I described this this way in my 2006 campaign:

"From 1940 to 1974 the Government of Canada put roughly half of the total money supply into the economy through loans issued through the federally owned Bank of Canada. Provincial and municipal governments could borrow the money to build roads, schools, hospitals and sewage treatment facilities at zero or one percent interest. In 1970 we changed our system and since that time a higher and higher percentage of all government debt is financed through loans issued through privately owned banks. At this time it is ninety eight percent. This policy may be great for our banking sector but it was estimated that in the one year of 1995 alone our federal government could have saved roughly SIXTY FIVE BILLION DOLLARS in interest payments if we had gone back to creating half the total money supply through these low interest rate loans issued through the bank that is OWNED BY ALL CANADIANS.

Considering that our deficit was approximately thirty billion dollars for that year, simply by changing back to an already proven monetary and banking system, we could theoretically have had a FEDERAL BUDGET SURPLUS OF THIRTY FIVE BILLION DOLLARS in 1995."

Pierre Trudeau was a CCF/NDP guy and knew he could never be Prime Minister so he became a Liberal. There was a big meeting in Kingston in the Pearson Days and out of it the Liberals were on the march to being more socialist and we got some months later PET as PM.

PPC member and potential candidate Mervyn DePendleton has came up with a highly practical response to a major crisis being faced here in Nova Scotia that could get Canadians thinking about better central banking policy. Because it is ridiculous to allow our federal government to look like they are practically bankrupt on paper...... . which tends to stop us from doing what obviously needs to be done for the good of all Canadians.

The Isthmus of Chignecto is in danger from the threat of rising tide levels. Mervyn DePendleton's idea of a Relief Channel...... sounds like a great idea to me....... and discussion of how to finance this proposed possible Relief Channel :

"Well from an engineering point of view if it was a sure thing and time would allow the answer is not going to be try to air condition the Antarctic. I would think in terms of cutting a relief channel. That would be between Sackville and Amherst would be to excavate a canal that would only start to receive water when the tide is up approximately the half of normal height and this canal would have to continue sloping down and terminate in the Gulf of St. Lawrence across from PEI.

No doubt such an undertaking would get bad reviews from a lot of environmentalist but it could save some of the low level human habitation on the banks of the Bay of Fundy. When I visited the area I remember on the N.B. side that there was a lot of high ground as you went inland from the shore of the Bay.

Another approach would be to think like the Seaway Project where Cardinal and Morrisburg and lots of farms and places on the Canadian side of the St. Lawrence were moved and the land flooded with the power dam near Cornwall. The idea with Fundy would in the energy extraction view would be to tell all the low land people to hit it, your property is ruined. At the sea entrance somewhere more in the direction toward St. John to create a one way valve type mechanism. Let the tide water come rushing and don't let it leave right away. When the tide forces have receded then release the water through turbines to generate electricity. From half tide to low tide and back to just coming back again all the stored water has to be used. It might also be possible to get some energy out of the water when it is rushing in at high tide.

I'm sure some high math and some good engineers could get the greatest benefit possible from conditions we otherwise cannot control. Also do not give up on the earth getting ever hotter as it may well be cooling for a while before us. All the end of world alarmist like Paul Ehrlich and the peak oil we would be burning camel dung by 1999 alarmist have all failed miserably in their predictions. The big problem with all of them is that they are trying to tell us something about the future. Conservative minded people know the secret, if you want to predict the future get out in front of it and do something to shape the future with your own hands.

Paul Martin lowered the debt with confiscatory taxation you might say that was good and bad, for working people saving for retirement it was a dream killer. Harper got squeezed into an NDP style budget when with minority power in Parliament. Maxime Bernier is studied on Austrian Economics and for that it gives him the good sense to lead economically. The public at large is too lacking in understanding to know good economic theory from bad. The country when it was run by farmers, fishermen, resource people and not so many lawyers and career politicians used good common sense and morality in their ways of managing. Today it is all schemes like free money to you if you agree to a carbon tax that will make us poorer and less competitive with the US, China, Brazil, India all countries that will run the way Canada did 3 or 4 generations ago.
