I think Clinton would but Obama not, Reagan I think would have ran to 1992 by then health was really affecting him.

God bless Reagan what a man! Started a leftie but he made up for it big time ;)

Reagan and Maggie made a hell of a team ;)

No, you are wrong. If there had not been a 22d Amendment Clinton would never have been nominated. as for Obama, he would still be in Illinois.
No, you are wrong. If there had not been a 22d Amendment neither of those two would have been elected in the first place.

Country fractured already in 2012 against romney

The reason trump won was not only because of that fracture, i think few people dispute hillary was a BAD candidate.... and still the race was a squeeker. Obama was a much better candidate. And sitting presidents tend to win

That may be true, with the following exceptions.

    Incumbent Presidents that lost:

    J. Adams
    J. Q. Adams
    M. Van Buren
    G. Cleveland
    B. Harrison
    W. Taft
    G. Ford
    J. Carter
    G. H. W. Bush

    Incumbents that were not re-nominated:

    J. Tayler
    M. Fillmore
    F. Pierce
    J. Buchanan
    A. Johnson
    C. Arthur

Incumbents who did not seek re-election:

    J. Polk
    R. Hayes
    T. Roosevelt
    C. Coolidge
    H. Truman
    L. Johnson

There is no need for the 22d Amendment. It needs to be repealed.

Reagan and Maggie - tag team Eugenics. I think you are reading too much revisionist history.

Reagan was a fiscal disaster - increased the debt even more than Obama on a percentage basis. He ran huge deficits which led to a near fiscal catastrophe. 12 years of Republican fiscal disaster if you include Bush Sr - which left the nation on the brink of fiscal insolvency.

Interest on our debt as a ratio of income was over 25%. (Today it is something like 12%). At 30% alarm bells go off at the IMF - the ship is taking in water faster than it can be bailed out and if something is not done soon the ship will sink.

Reagan was an absolute disaster. Clinton and the Republican congress did not reign in spending and lower the deficit to zero because they wanted to - they did it because they HAD TO.

There were many other Reagan the dude was a fiscal disaster - spent money like a princess with a credit card and initiated the process by which a whole lot of US manufacturing was outsourced.

We lucked out during the Clinton years. While it is true that they did reign in spending - they benefited by a "white swan event". The internet/technology revolution kicked in - and subsequent dot com bubble - which resulted in a huge increase in revenue.

I was born during the George H.W. Bush years in a non-US country and didn't really form any political opinions until the time of the Iraq War. But now that I have some knowledge of US history and politics, here's how I would vote if I was present in 1980 and knew everything I know today.

    1980 - Jimmy Carter
    1984 - Walter Mondale
    1988 - Michael Dukakis
    1992 - Bill Clinton
    1996 - Bill Clinton
    2000 - Ralph Nader
    2004 - Ralph Nader
    2008 - Ralph Nader
    2012 - Jill Stein
    2016 - Jill Stein

I predict GOP wins midterms by 1 or 2 seats.

The Trump slams it in 2020 just got a hunch.

Time will tell but I made my bets a lot time ago ;)

I should bet on 2022 midterms the odds are probably still good.

    I voted for Reagan twice.

Then I grew up, and I've voted for Democrats ever since. I figure I owe a lifetime of penance for those Reagan votes. I was young and naive, that's my excuse.

I always voted for the best candidate.

That candidate was always a Republican.

    From Ford to Trump.

With the benefit of hindsight I wouldn't go with Clinton, Al Gore or Obama but I was trying to put myself in my mindset at that time. I was very anti Iraq war and I never liked Bush.

I've got an autographed photo somewhere.
    My parents loved her.
I'm not anti, but I'm not overwhelmed about her.
    Mildly positive.
