I am surprised there is not a thread on this

The death toll is now 70. Iran seems to be being hit very hard by global warming. It had drought all over last summer. These floods have been being reported for the past few days including concern that the US is blocking needed help.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/apr/04/iran-floods-death-toll-reaches-62

So what do you think? They may be just saying it but I was surprised that we are not sending help so when I heard this it had to be a possibility. Iran is claiming that the EU are not helping for fear of the US sanctioning them while the US claims it is due to Iran not spending enough though how they would be able to do that when the US, as with Venezuela is sanctioning Iran to a point where it could cause mass starvation, I do not know. Is it possible to say the US's attack on Iran is not on the people of Iran, as they say, when they are holding up rescue measures and putting civilians more at risk. Is this the future? Might is Right on steroids?

Oh well, sucks to be Iran...

Perhaps they could redirect the money they are spending on developing nukes and funding terrorist groups and apply it to rescue and assistance efforts.

If they are spending money on nukes and I do not know if they are at the moment but if they are, that. like the work they are needing money for, would be for survival. Unfortunately the US wanted to harm the people of Iran and so although Iran was keeping a deal which had been put in place by the previous US president as well as the UN/EU/ UK/France/Russia and China. Iran was keeping this. It was a strong deal as Mattis himself said having read it three times. Unfortunately the US for some reason wants to destroy Iran so it ended this deal intent on bringing back sanctions simply because it hates Iran for some reason. I am guessing because Israel and the Christian Zionists want to destroy Iran - possibly something from the bible..

Iran is full of crap. Since it appears you are a supporter of Iran, then you need to be honest about their motivations and negotiating tactics.

An agreement, even a signed one, means nothing. It's just a starting point. A piece of paper from which it may, or may not, live up to. It's very clear by it's own actions Iran has no intention of giving up it's nuke development. Never has.

It announced it's going to build a Nuclear Powered Navy in the middle of the agreement. That means more untouchable sites working with nuclear materials and technology.

So, since Iran wants to alienate so many countries through it's support of terrorism, it shouldn't expect anyone to help.

Perhaps on day it's citizens will grow tired of the BS their spiritual leaders impose on them, and will take matters into their own hands.

Do you think the Gov. there cares if 100 people are dead ?
This is the same evil regime that sent countless children with plastic keys as gateways to heaven to walk on mine fields to open the way to its army.

I am a supporter of Justice and International Law in this instance the US is the one in the wrong. Just as well it still has might is right or it would be the one experiencing sanctions.

You are simply going by the US extreme right position that the word of the President of the US means nothing. That the US is not a country that anyone else in the world can do a deal with and expect the US to stand by that deal That is widely the view in the world now. I don't like to say things before I have checked them but I can tell you that Iran is still going by that deal.

    https://www.newsy.com/stories/international-watchdog-says-iran-complying-with-nuclear-deal/

I knew the EU were trying to keep them in but I was unsure whether they had done enough. That is Feb of this year. Clearly if it looks like the US is intent on doing a Libya on them, they will need to consider again. All countries have to protect their people from vicious predators as best they can and one which is currently working to create civil war, starve the people and not allow them to rescue their civilians from floods would certainly fit into that category. I have heard though that Iran would be an extremely difficult country for feet on the grounds and as the US just likes to kill and not to be killed...well at the moment they are hoping to starve the people of Iran until they engage in civil war. Totally crazy. Iran would likely have changed their government years ago if they did not notice the US and others using this as an excuse for outside interference in Syria.

In time, the US will be held to account. On that there is no question. What is the real reason the US wants to destroy Iran and her people.

I see. You believe in not allowing Iran to rescue her people from floods because you believe their regime is evil. Because you see the Iran regime as evil you want her people dead. So am I right. Is this a religious hatred going on against Iran? Personally I believe that not helping people during a natural disaster especially because you hate them which you clearly do calling them evil, is itself 'evil'.

Iran is a consistent and continuous violator of international law. It's violated it's agreements, and should never be trusted to adhere to any agreement it enters into. It's cultural.

Iran lied, will continue to lie, will continue to fund terrorism, and therefore, the United States shouldn't be party to any agreement that Iran signs on to.

Iran has a choice. Be a part of the modern world, a friend to all, tolerant and accepting, or it can be an terrorist supporting foe, and live with the consequences of that position.

    On the contrary.
I care about the dead there and would like to see resque teams from all around the globe flying to help the people.
However, their own regime will not allow it, because they do not care for their own people, only for the survival of the regime itself.

I am not sure that is what they are wanting and they certainly would not want or need that from the US just like Venezuela would not want any 'humanitarian aid' coming in and basically doing a take over. What they are complaining about is US sanctions, which really should be sanctions against the US because the US is the one who did not keep its word. The extreme right in power in the US fear Iranians so much that they would happily watch them die rather than act honourably and stop their dishonourable sanctions against a country staying by the rule of the deal even after the US has reneged and is working at creating civil war there.

Anyway I have found out the reasons for this inhumane action of the extreme right in the US,

One is fear. The extreme right have been shown in research after research to be far more afraid than other people in particular liberals. Hence although there is no chance Iran is going to harm them, they want to kill them so that that is a definite.

The second is as I said religious. They believe God gave Jews Israel and so they support everything Israel does so if Israel wants every Iranian man woman child and baby dead, that is what the extreme right, evangelical Christians of the US will try to do.

Very easy to see why they are giving up International Law....

Iran by all accounts was living up to all it's obligations under the JPCOA and complying to international law. Moreover it has the right as a signee of the non-proliferation treaty a right to develop nuclear industry for peaceful purposes.

The US, by unilaterally reneging on an international agreement signed in good faith by 5 other nations has violated the terms and meaning of the treaty and applied illegal sanctions under international law.

Further Iran has not ever illegally attacked another country - something the US cannot make the same claim to.

Clearly it is the US who is acting illegally and in bad faith and is the nations that lies and refuses to live up to it's obligations and commitments under international law.

And to describe Iran as a supporter of terrorism while giving the US ally Saudi Arabia a pass and even signing arms deals as well as a new commitment to arm the Whahabbi Kingdom with nuclear arms is a hypocrisy and dangerous escalation of monumental proportions.

Simply, the US cannot be trusted.

..... and the US, in the Iraq/Iran war, gave Saddam targeting info *knowing* he would use chemical weapons on those positions.

Morals are relative, I suppose, on whom one assigns the black & white hats to.

In order for this to stick, you need to provide 4 things, you never bothered to provide:
    1. Document for your so called "targeting" whatever that means.
    2. Document what were the "targets".
    3. The fact that US knew Saddam is going to use chemical weapons on those targets.
    4. Show Saddam actually used chemical weapons on those targets.
Until you do, your post equates to zero.

    https://foreignpolicy.com/2013/08/2...rove-america-helped-saddam-as-he-gassed-iran/

...In 1988, during the waning days of Iraq’s war with Iran, the United States learned through satellite imagery that Iran was about to gain a major strategic advantage by exploiting a hole in Iraqi defenses. U.S. intelligence officials conveyed the location of the Iranian troops to Iraq, fully aware that Hussein’s military would attack with chemical weapons, including sarin, a lethal nerve agent.

The intelligence included imagery and maps about Iranian troop movements, as well as the locations of Iranian logistics facilities and details about Iranian air defenses. The Iraqis used mustard gas and sarin prior to four major offensives in early 1988 that relied on U.S. satellite imagery, maps, and other intelligence. These attacks helped to tilt the war in Iraq’s favor and bring Iran to the negotiating table, and they ensured that the Reagan administration’s long-standing policy of securing an Iraqi victory would succeed. But they were also the last in a series of chemical strikes stretching back several years that the Reagan administration knew about and didn’t disclose.

.... and just how did Saddam get his chemical weapons? Most accounts point to European companies supplying the ingredients, but then there's this:

    From 2002:
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-153210/Rumsfeld-helped-Iraq-chemical-weapons.htm

US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld helped Saddam Hussein build up his arsenal of deadly chemical and biological weapons, it was revealed last night.

As an envoy from President Reagan 19 years ago, he had a secret meeting with the Iraqi dictator and arranged enormous military assistance for his war with Iran.

The CIA had already warned that Iraq was using chemical weapons almost daily. But Mr Rumsfeld, at the time a successful executive in the pharmaceutical industry, still made it possible for Saddam to buy supplies from American firms.

They included viruses such as anthrax and bubonic plague, according to the Washington Post.

The extraordinary details have come to light because thousands of State Department documents dealing with the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war have just been declassified and released under the Freedom of Information Act.

It's foolish for anyone to enter into an agreement with Iran. It's not worth the paper it's written on. That's true in business, and in International Politics.

Iran has not been living up to it's agreement. Anyone interested can review the reports submitted by the IAEA.

You can squawk all you want about who is the liar, etc.. It doesn't matter. Iran is a terrorist supporting Nation, and if it can't take of it's own people, that's too bad.

Now back to reality. The floods continue in Iran and the US continues to stop humanitarian help. This gives the entire world a picture as to what the US has become. The Red Crescant are now also criticisng the US for hampering aid. This is the worst floods Iran has had in 100 years.
