Meantime, one of the least pleasant behaviours of damaged goods males, is their bizarre tendency to call you a 'bitch' if you don't respond to their wildly inappropriate attempts to get your attention. I'm talking about random strangers in public, catcalling or otherwise attempting to communicate with women. Why such men think woman would respond well to catcalls, instead of ignoring them completely, is beyond comprehension - yet they often seem offended when you do ignore them. Worse still is the much older or much less attractive male, attempting to make inappropriate small talk with random attractive and/or younger females, and when no response is received, getting angry. I had this very thing happen to me a couple of days ago. A 'rustic' (as in, lowest socio-economic order), overtly sleazy, dumpy old man sidled up to me in a drug store and started talking. When I ignored him completely, as though he wasn't there - the only possible response to random predatory strangers - and continued walking, he actually followed, leapt in front of me, and demanded angrily "what's the matter with you?". I just walked around him. Never once made eye contact. A clerk saw the whole thing, later telling me he's a regular and a known pest.

As long as I live, and despite many years pondering the human mind, I'll never understand why it's mainly unattractive and old men who attempt to make contact inappropriately, with random females. And it's almost ALWAYS with females they haven't the slightest hope of securing. They never predate upon women in their own age range or looks range. That's some seriously malfunctioning ego, or plain old misogyny.

One of the best moments in my sex education class is something like what you were talking about. The boys were saying how girls like it when Make kissing sounds when girls walked by. One girl said, “no we don’t, that’s how you call a dog” then the boys said “oh yes you do.” And with that all the girls were saying” no we don’tl. Then meekly, one of the boys asked what they should do. A girl said, “you can smile at us and if we smile back you can talk to us but if we ignore you don’t say ‘yo bitch what’s your problem’” it was a wonderful moment for boys to realize that it is disrespectful.
Another story was my husband’s awareness. I was meeting him at his office and he was standing on the steps quite a distance away, and was watching me walk past construction workers who were all hooting at me.He suddenly became aware of how my whole body language changed and he became aware that he walked past these men all the time and he never gave it a moment’s thought.( now I do the hooting) :)

I thought all that hooting and stuff Men did at Women was gross and pointless and disgusting and ridiculous as far back as I can remember, and never engaged in it.

I did not do it as a youth, I would not do it now that I am old.

I could never understand it no matter how much it is explained.

Once at a job, an Asian lady walked in, Chinese, and as we talked the workers, Mexicans made some rather rude comments about her, and I saw her react and I asked her quietly, you speak Spanish ?
And She nodded, She saw how I was pretty mad, and excused their rudeness saying, they are just being Men, and She told Me of Her Education somewhat, spoke many languages, was a Pediatric Physician, etc....

When She left, I told those Men to never say such things in front of a customer again since some People speak many languages.
They were shocked She understood Them.

Proper Gentlemen never whistle or hoot at anyone.

I am nothing worth looking at.
    Pretty old.
    However, sometimes a lady will say, you look very nice today, and I smile and say;
    Thank you !

I do not look at anyone and see "Ugly" I see an important Human being.

I learned that as a boy, to be respectful and nice to all People.

In my workshops I constantly am asked the same question by men and the question is “how do you compliment a woman” I tell them the same way you would compliment a man” Saying you look very nice today is different from saying, you look very sexy today” One guy said he don’t even know what to say anymore, so my advice was not to say anything
You’re very lucky that you do not see anyone as ugly. I think that’s a bit unrealistic It’s like saying you don’t notice someone who is very fat or old . The reality is some people are beautiful and some are ugly..there’s nothing wrong with that

Just a little note....if the men weren’t Mexicans you would see them as Individuals. Men of all races and man of all nationalities make rude comments to women . I think that was very nice what you said to those men though. And I hope they learned something

    Everbody was somebody's baby once.

When I was a nipper, I saw people differently, I still do.
    It is a gift.

I can tell people things, and they ask how I knew ?

We were just talking about that in my workshop. If you come from Spain it’s cool but if you come from Mexico it’s not. If you have a British accent or a French accent it is charming but if you have a Spanish accent from El Salvador it isn’t.

in modern times, women should be free enough to be our best friends in the whole wide world.

Men used to marry those women and raise a family with them. Interesting how history is distorted to support ideas.

Bitches is bitches and sluts is sluts. You define who you want to be seen as. You cannot force someone to see you as you see yourself.

When, in history? Women in the US only won the franchise, in the last century of the last millennium.

In history, women were considered a form of property, to be used in the most ergonomic of manners and fashions.

It’s funny that the word sluts is assigned to women when men are the sluts . As one man in my group said as long as men can do that to women , men will have control. If we destigmatized the word, women would have the power.
Why is the word bitch allowed here but not the N-word when they are both pejoratives about a group? When is an acknowledge prejudice and the other is a sanctioned one

What are you asking, "when did men marry their best friend" or, "when has history been distorted to support ideas"?

I wasn't around when husbands used women "in the most ergonomic of manners and fashions". I can only remember women wanting to get married and raise a family, and loving it. I guess poorer, less educated folks might have placed themselves in positions of subjugation and abuse. I didn't see it so much myself. All the women that I knew, including grandparents, loved the freedom and power of being married, raising children, and not having to provide the income to live, at the same time. It was an easier time, with less expectation to achieve in more than one profession, if you will. Women who did not want to get married, didn't. Just as women today who are a sahm today, are bashed unashamedly for their choices, so those women who did not get married, yet had not devotion to faith, did then.

I think it was more that other women excluded them for some of the same reasons they do a sahm today. Women haven't changed much, just as men have not. What has is what is acceptable to portray yourself as in public.

It's not conducive to marriage with a man who does not find promiscuity attractive, to use the word slut, just as it never was. Nothing has changed except the way folks try to disguise their true selves. Men are as much sluts as women, though I have a suspicion the difference is in our biology and our understanding of what makes a good marriage. Many folks today think that marriage is dead. I am one who believes it is not an intelligent or useful choice.

Edit: I think marriage is a great institution, just not in today's climate. ee.

Then, I don't sleep around, either. I am not, nor ever have been the promiscuous type, whether the opportunity was there or not. I never really pursued women to the point of seduction and sex. I turned down many women and only ever asked one to have a one night stand with me. I was turned down, not because she didn't find me attractive, nor because she wasn't familiar with one night stands. It would have been my first. It turned out we got together a few days later, after the second date. We even ended up married and it didn't work out.

I believe it isn't that she was a slut, though I would have difficulty defending her honor on that topic. I believe it's more about deceiving ourselves about compatibility and wanting something we can't have that ruins friendships that never should have been close, least of all, turned into marriage or even sex.

I think today's movements are all about that, instead of about reality. Sluts are slutty. Bitches are bitchy. I think men are usually called dicks, when they are 'bitchy'. No?

Yes all women loved getting married and staying home raising children....and being dependent and not developing their potential. I wonder why so many women today are doctors and lawyers and occupations that they were denied in the past? I guess they didn’t realize how happy they were not being able to be whatever they wanted to be. Being a homemaker is a wonderful job and a very difficult job but also quite thankless If it was such a great job men would fight to do it. Women didn’t have options and now they do and they are much happier
