That seems to be the case. Would they even consider letting you grow pot?

Most of the tobacco farmers in the south were democrats.

Update on my fall garden. I have spread 15 bails of hay, there are two bails left that I am saving to spread in sparse areas. Plus the 10 bails of pinestraw that can also be used, not to mention all the leaves that are getting ready to fall. I have the mulching in this garden covered. My husband built me stands for the sprinklers so a larger area can get sprinkled.

I told the border collie to stack the frisbees today and take them to the porch..He almost did it, when he got to the steps he dropped them, that can't be counted as a fail maybe a B-. This dog is amazing and he isn't a year old yet.

What do you have that grazes on the hay?

    Steers?

    Sheep?

    Goats?

    Deer?

You did not tell the whole story.

The whole story is this, my neighbor gave me the hay to mulch my garden to keep the weeds down.
The deer come up at night and eat my pears so maybe they will find the hay a bit appetizing. Speaking of the deer I need to buy some fresh salt licks for them. We have about five deer that cross here in the night.
No goats at the present time but that is something I am working on and sheep would be nice too.

One thing about Texans is this, they overcome and don't sit around waiting for help. It is amazing how different people are in disasterous conditions.
When the people that could help the ladies trapped in the nursing home they came and evacuated them to safety.

I heard a mayor talk from a city close to Rockport,Tx. on Saturday and
he sounded quite optimistic about Texas and their ability to handle and
endure. He said they're used to being resilient and going thru this
    kinda thing.That's good to know.
I'm reminded about a really good Novel I read a few years ago that started
out about a catastrophe. The True Life novel by Jeanette Walls :
    - Half Broke Horses - { a New York Times bestseller }
    It's about " Lily,who survived tornadoes,droughts,Floods,The Great Depression
and the most heartbreaking personal tradegy. "
Keeping in mind what Governor Abbott kept stressing. That one's Life is what's
    most important.Not any personal property.

God bless all those people struggling with that horrendous flooding. God bless all those big hearts and strong backs lending a big 'ol Texas hand to those in need and God bless Texas!

Well not exactly just like the boll weavel taught the farmer that cotton wasn't the only way to go. Now the boll weavel has his own statue in a south Alabama town. (Wonder when he will get torn down.) One large tobacco farmer I am aware of started plant nurseries and tree farms. Wonder if he ever considered erecting a statue of a cigar.

Yes, a Big Cigar would be kind of like the Washington Monument in DC, or a really big... anything long and straight.

Could have been a statue of the shade they used to grow the tobacco for cigars.
