I thought the best line was "Heeerre's Johnny!"

The only thing scarier than Nicholson was his wife. That woman freaks me out.

Yes, RedRum, just like in Rough Night.
Basically the same movie, but with a faux Kiwi theme and sand instead of snow.

If you're ever in Estes Park, CO, and tempted to stay at the Stanley (where The Shining was filmed) my advice is to pass.
    a. It's over-priced.
    b. It's a really old hotel with all the downsides one might expect from a really old hotel.

My advice is to stay in one of the Mom & Pop inns or motels on the main drag and eat dinner at the Stanley.

The best line in Rough Night was "Do all Americans carry guns!"

Actually, most exterior shots were filmed at the Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood in Oregon. I stayed there after the movie, but fortunately the inside was nothing like the movie. Scary stuff.

Well they say this is the most haunted house in the US. The Winchester Mansion.

The sprawling 160-room Queen Anne-style Victorian mansion in San Jose, Calif. has been spooking and fascinating visitors as a tourist attraction since 1923.

Butter and a little lemon juice is all it really needs, but whipping cream is also good for spinach - and "single life". :)

You're right. I should have said that the Stanley was the inspiration for the book, which later became the movie.

Probably scarier to stay in a hotel that inspired Stephen King.

Speaking of ghosts & such... my friend has a new dog, a rat terrier. Ever since the first day he got her, she'll often stop what shes doing and stare up at the ceiling where it connects to the wall. Sometimes she'll stare down the hall.

Its weird... like she sees something we cant see. Whats up with that??

My cats do that all the time.....One day I was cleaning up around the house and they kept running and looking down the hall, running back and then staring down the hall again.

So I took my shop vac and went down the hall. Whatever was there knew the jig was up and got the hell out of there. Before I could turn on the windtunnel technology. MMC don't play with ghosts or spooks.

I took me a long time to figger out Shelley Long.I have just
the last 10 years. She is one of those actress that rely on what
Broadway Actress rely. That being how they dress and how
they move and talk.Take for example an extreme example like
Carol Channing. Her entire life and thereby career was literally
marked { driven } by her - Hello Dolly - character.
I am watching a Mork & Mindy TV series and the character
of Exidor played by character actor Robert Donner.Virtually all
his characters act like nuts.Like totally off the reservation.
That seems to be his gift in acting.Making weird faces and
stern expressions.Shelly Long had a very Olive Oyl quality.
Long legs like a Model and kind of round simple almost
cartoon face. She used that element of her attributes.
It doesn't seem real because Broadway {Theatre people } are the opposite
    of normal.

I feel the same way SMW.....yesterday we got hit with another 4-5inches of snow. To go with the 3-5 the day before. Now they say we will get about an inch Thursday. A little bit Friday. Then 6-8 inches Saturday. I like that little bit wording. As 4 or 5 inches could be a little bit to weather people.

I hate driving in the ****.....the other night I watched a car drive Right into a building. I was just glad I wasn't in the intersection.

The Condo Association is suppose to have people to plow and snow. I said really.....like when. So I am stuck shoveling the driveway out and the walk to the entrance. As I aint trudging thru it all and then bringing into the condo.

Figures Feb. would dump on us after we got only 4 or 5 days in January.

Did I mention I hate winter.

But don't worry when comes my time to check out. I will be having a talk with old man winter. Oh, and those 3 fates and I got some business they aren't going to like. 2 of them for sure.

Johnny Depp went from being an original, interesting and somewhat
dynamic actor to a mere parody of hisself.Somewhere along the
way into stardom he got the novel idea to consider himself a
movie actor version of Hunter Thompson. His Hunter Thompson
movie or take on the originator of Gonzo Journalism was way off.
    In fact, the movie - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - { 1998 }
was just plain awful. It also wasted the talent of a very good
quality actor as well { Benicio Del Toro }.
    Del Toro's - The Wolfman - { 2010 } is fantastic.Worth buying on DVD.
Now Bill Murray did a really good version of Hunter Thompson
in - Where the Buffalo Roam - { 1980 }.I was bowled over at the time
    when watching.SOooooooooo Hunter S Thompson.However forget about
ever seeing it.It was shelved almost Immediately.
    I was hoping either Movie would have a scene { it's in the short book }
where Hunter { a true alchy and doper } gets ahold of an adrenaline
gland { it's in a plastic baggy } from some Mortician er someone.
He eats just a little bit of and goes into another world.Which was
actually his real world.I doubt he was ever straight a day in his
adult life.Anywho ... this eating of a small chunk of a fresh adrenaline
gland was the epitome of Thompson's quest for leaving planet earth
while firmly enscounced in some Hotel { Not Motel because Thompson
lived to order room service }.

Me, me, I'll share the snow.
We are getting the rain and wind but no snow. It was in the 70's yesterday a virtual heat wave compared to the weather we have been having.

To further expand upon just how acquired a taste Wine is,especially
Fine wine like Red's.As a rule of thumb,,many a Fine red is also better
a day or 2 or 3 after opening. However it has to be maintained in a
cool consistent place. Not left sitting out corked at room temperature.
It needs to be in a cool place.
I wonder if Hunter S. Thompson knew Dat.Or cared to.
He was very rigid in certain elements of his life.Like always
    clean-shaven and wearing the exact same kind of sunglasses { Aviator }
and preferring Preppy clothing items, like expensive button-down shirts.
Kind of a Kentucky thing { among the snobs from Louisville }.
He also mumbled when he talked. So one never knew if they were talking
to a slightly inebriated Hunter or a full bore,bat-**** crazed loon who just
came inside from shooting-off his largest pistol at some object in the
woods or merely in the air while barking out Politics at the Moon.
However his polar opposite or Nemesis woulda been Bill Bennett.
    A stickler for manners and being proper.Bennett a retired {recently }
Talk Radio guy who was President Reagan's Education Secretary and
Drug Czar had this to say when learning Hunter S. Thompson died :
Paraphrasing { cannot find quote } Hunter Thompson ended his
    life as a coward .
That may be true. But he certainly was no coward when dealing with
Pols and Pundits and even the Hells Angels.
Imagine puffy, tubby Bill Bennett smoking a joint for the first time and minutes
later ending up a Bar frequented by Hells Angels.
No finer sight could be imagined.
I know this kind of stuff.I write this kinda stuff.
