    That's funny !!

My own weakness is for slightly drunk females with vodka on their breath.

Beware of beer however !! It makes girlies fart badly. That could stink up the whole bedroom.

Just as I thought -- the conspicuous absence of @Smartmouthwoman from the bar is due to her beach umbrella.

Sounds very good, but management clearly needs to increase pay to reduce the personnel shortage and the overtime.

You clearly have not read the book, but HereWe's SBs could probably write even better books on finagling. ;-)

It is actually the way most Trump deals work. Both sides get what they really want. ;-)

There is a variety of scammers that specifically ask for new sugar daddies only. Heh, I know why! But most women are glad to hear that I've been doing this for a long time now. They like knowing that you know how it works.

I remember one woman who was complaining that she can only find salt daddies, no REAL sugar daddies. [she made up the term]. She thinks all men are stupid and her pretentious glamour routine should make any man want her. Heh. A great attitude is very sexy and her's sucks. Just after reading her profile I wouldn't even want to sleep with her.

That sounds like way more fun than partying in Mexico.

I have partied in several different Mexican towns. It was really fun.

But then I did not need to drive home. I was there for weeks at a time while eating and drinking and scuba diving there were the only things to do.

The DUI rules and the way they are abused by law enforcement and the courts are most distasteful to me. So I drink at home.

My bar bills have gone way down to $-0- now. That leaves me more money to buy more booze at the liquor stores. Win win.

It's like @Smartmouthwoman right now on the beach in Galveston Texas. She can drink all she wants. She can walk naked on the beach all she wants.

She won't get arrested and charged for DUI.

Raising pay won't increase the work force.

Didn't you take any econ in college?

Raising pay is a short term activity. It only causes job hopping and inflation.

A workforce shortage is a long term problem. It requires long term solutions.

Time for leftover lamb stew for lunch now, at 10 AM.

My body is used to eating supper then going to sleep.

So after eating lamb stew earlier I fell back asleep.

Now I am up again and back at my desk working -- doing office stuff.

An employer who wants more qualified people for a tough job will have to pay more. The long term workforce shortage cannot be resolved by any business.
Well, other than the condom manufacturers.

    Yes and no.

Yes, in that workers would be attracted toward higher wages.

No, in that competitors would be under pressure to raise their wages.

No, in that the labor market is not a closed system. There are two factors at play.
    1. Employers add, or subtract, workers according to justifications (need vs. cost).
    2. Workers enter, or leave, the workforce according to justifications (costs vs. benefits).

Obama is actually an expert apple polisher. You have to be a teachers pet to get into Harvard.

Obama is also good at persuading others to polish his apple.

“Lobbyist can offer, in other words, an implicit preemptive payoff to powerful government officials. It happens not only on the Hill but in the boastfully anti-lobbyist, anti-revolving-door Obama White House. Scores of administration officials had by 2010 left the administration for K Street jobs without anyone so much as pointing out that they were defying a central tenet of the Obama political enterprise.” … “There's a payoff," Hess [Stephen Hess Brookings Institution] concluded using the word “payoff” with no apparent wryness.” Mark Leibovich, This Town, Penguin Books, 2013, pp. 163,164.”

This thread is supposed to be non political. Do you want me to start talking about how only idiots would support the scum in office; that you are selling out to evil, that you have destroyed this once great nation?

It's not just about paying more, not in today's workforce. Bells, whistles, special benefits, flex hours, telecommuting..... anything to make them feel they aren't actually working, it seems.

And for those who do have to show up at a worksite, you should be damn happy they bothered.

Right now, the employers are over a barrel finding decent employees, even at entry level. With unemployment low, the pickings are slim.

I hope that the labor market remains tight for a while longer. It could cause a much needed reordering of societal priorities. There has already been some positive impact.

    1. The unemployment rates of so-called minority groups are at, or near, historic lows. This fact alone provides hope for better lives to entire communities.

    2. Employers are beginning to bypass the failings of our degenerated, education system by hiring kids directly out of high school and educating them on the job

My hope for the future is that big and small business, Chamber of Commerce types might bring enough pressure to bear, that our failing, misrun schools are reformed, so that they actually educate children.
