We had opossums around but never had any trouble. And no rabid skunks either, thank goodness! We had dogs for many years. At times they would take off after something in the pasture at night. One night I could hear something really big sloshing through the creek and trying to get away. Probably a bear. I didn't know it until I had a pro-hunter buddy come to visit in the day. He walked around my office and pointed out scat from bear, cougar, elk, and deer, all within 30 feet of where I walked at night every single night, often without a flashlight!

Once the dogs all got old and died, the wildlife moved in but I hadn't realized that. When the pasture grass was 5 feet tall, I could have been 10 feet from a cougar and not even know it! I know I had a bear in my storage area once. I could hear it right outside my wall. But I didn't know it was a bear until I saw that he had moved a 300 pound stack of lumber! And we had another one dig up a underground bee hive about 5 feet from our back door. That was very cool! I had been worrying about what to do with that damned hive! But I got up one morning and it was cleaned out. It was huge too! There must have been thousands of bees in there.

Saw a wolf running across the pasture once. At first I thought it was a coyote. But then he hopped a 5-foot cow fence like it was a speed bump. Way too big for coyote! I'd never seen a wolf in the wild before.

Funny, I was all worried about the bear, and esp the cougars! But my buddy said what would worry him most was the elk. In rutting season they might attack in the dark and I'd never seen them coming. Most other animals would tend to stay away from humans.

But the strangest thing I ever saw was a nutria. I had never heard of them. I was standing about five feet away from this thing that was groaning at me and I had absolutely no idea what it was! I soon learned that it was a nutria in heat.

    Aarrrgh!

I made the extra effort to get to the "Natural 9" restaurant in Cabazon.

They no longer have their Kimchi Jjigae (stew) on the menu.

F’n place. Park facing the wind and you can hardly get your door open. Park facing away from the wind and your door will rip you out of the drivers seat.

I was talking with a customer tonight and realized that I've been writing computer programs for 40 years.

    40 YEARS!!! Wow. That's depressing. I started with Intel's 8080A.

And there has never been a time when I wasn't having to learn something new. It never ends! And it keeps getting wilder. I work with stuff now that nobody in this country really understands. Companies are slapping out new technology day after day and don't even bother to provide real support any more.

As I told another customer one day, you don't learn the particulars of these high-tech products any more. It's not like the people selling it have a clue. And if you call tech support, half the time you know more than they do!!! The manuals tell you all the obvious, boneheaded stuff and never mention what you need to know. So you have to embark on an adventure in discovery! That translates as lost money in my world.

I also refuse to play Powerball or the Lotto. The reason is quite
simple.Over the years I have seen many, many blacks at these
corner Convenience Stores and some of them almost hang out there
talking Powerball.I once had a long debate in a Porn Parlor { knew a
guy that worked there } and it was a great place to Interview the
human condition.Because Gays live to lie and pretend. They also live to
jump aboard the first convenient liberal bandwagon movement.
So I struck up a debate { argument } with this Black kid who
talked incessantly all the time about some number he's gonna use for
Powerball. That he and his Mom have thought about this number and
that's it.I couldn't believe have dumb that was.I knew this black kid because he
once worked at the local video rental store. But he talked mostly about
Powerball or Lotto and his Mom would cell phone him like every 10 minutes
with some Number as if practicing Voodoo. That's what this is for Blacks.
It's their modern day version of VOODOO
Blacks have a history of bein' Spooked real easy as seen in some
comedy shorts.Blacks also abide Urban Myth as if Reality.
I think the more one stays away from college the better chance they
have of falling under the spell of Powerball or Lotto.
I think it a sign off verifiable Stupidity.I can't for the life of me
visualize my Grandmother ever even considering playing Powerball
or Lotto_Of course the same would hold true for trying Pot.
    Go Figger !

I don't know why there can't be a "delete" button.

And why is there a "quote" button and a "reply" button? That's redundant. Get rid of "reply" and replace it with "delete".

The +quote lets you quote several people's posts in one. Personally, I find it really annoying that someone would be that lazy, but hey, they iz what they iz.

Edit to add, delete could really throw things off if someone has already responded, or change the context of a thread.

I especially like the "quote" button. It lets me finish reading the page before I reply. "Reply" automatically scrolls down to the posting box. I don't like that.

Ahhh, nothing better than tex-mex when its 100 degrees outside. Lunch w gf was good even though I didnt join her having a top shelf (Silver Patron) margarita at 11 am. Too early in the day for a tequila buzz.

There is a plus to delete and edit.If a poster posts something that
is raw or incorrect it's up there with a possible reply anyway. So a Poster
can't wish it away.I think that may be why they discontinued the " delete "
feature. To make sure a poster is on record with an original post or
reply.Kinda like Facebook. It then can be used against a person.
Meaning you can Go Back after a time and delete because it was
naughty or Too Nice.Roseanne probably had a time limit to decide
if she oughta delete her Valerie Jarrett Twitter comment.
But as Tucker Carlson pointed out that won't work in some cases.
Like an Old Blog account. What MSNBC's Joy Reid tried to pull.
The Library of Congress can retrieve virtually anything that went
public. They have to keep it stored for posterity.

I am working on a new bottle of Beefeaters gin.

After it's empty I will get some more tequila.
