    So what should one be doing with their 'spare time' if not creating? Mind you, this question is being asked of a person with over 25,000 posts in 3 years.... :dual:

    One needs to have a heck of a filter for some of it. But I have never thought of it as a notebook. Cliff notes are a little more concise.

    My notes are better than Cliff's. ;-)
    When I read an important book or article I take a lot of notes, and when I research an issue for a discussion here I save the posts and the source quotes used with the citations. Comes in handy.

    We did a pond in pebble mosaic. It is a long process that takes paitence. Hint: set stones in dry cement mix and turn stones edgeways to sink the pebble in mortar as deep as possible. Using dry mix lets you take your time and just water...carefully to set the cement. That way you dont get that cement haze on your stones. You clean the rocks as you water them in. I just found a house...right next door...full of ond tounge and groove pine and rough cut timbers and rafters. It is also covered in tin but someone else will get that. I do get all the old windows and glass. May have enoygh glass to build a decent greenhouse.

    The house was built in the 1890s out of heart pine. The T&G is plained on one side and most of the rest of it is rough sawn. It has shiplap on the outside. I got most of the glass out because it breaks so easily. The wood has been inside for over a hundred years and has a nice patina. All projects are on hold till I get this wood. Will dive into it full force tomorrow ....i hope. Also made a place out of the elements to store the stuff.

    The shock and awe might be that we may seem so naive in looking back. If my parents and grandparents were still alive they would be scandalized by what we have accepted as normal behavior.

    Favorite short story. Good friend, favorite word is S***. 2 year old daughter's birthday, Grandparents give her an Easy-Bake type oven.. Granddaughter opens it and yells Holy S*** ! Great-grandmother says 'What did she say?, while friend is banging her head on the table next to the birthday cake. There is video to prove it. :D
