As a former dispatcher,you as Driver { whether an Independent or Fleet Truck
Driver } have to utilize all options.The first being how you enter in yer log
book the hours and miles travelled.No more than 8 hrs. at a stretch.
You know in advance that you cannot make-it to the location while
still during business hrs.If it's a pick-up then leave in the wee hrs.
and get there with enough daylight to make it back home,on the
same day after Pick-up or delievery.
However if it IS a pick-up ... then you Still have the Delievery to make.

 

I do drive with a light touch.

A couple of weeks ago, I was passing through Wyoming. I was near to fully loaded, with 32,000lbs. on the drive axles. The steering felt a little loose, so I slowed to 45mph. I felt good until I started going up a very slight incline. The marginal increase in power requirement resulted in wheelspin!

Needless to say, I slowed further - to 35mph.

I got passed by some other truck. My radar display clocked him at 58mph. When he pulled out to pass another truck, he kept right on going. He slid into the median grass. He drove in the median for a bit, then eased back onto the pavement. He kept the truck perfectly straight the whole time. I was impressed.

He slowed down after that.

 

One of my requirements is flush toilets. Period. End of story

 

Working 2 jobs this week, 77 hrs total, but still making time for y'all.

You can thank the giant turd who didn't pick up the giant turds his dog left on the public sidewalk and five feet from the door of the airport that I had to pick up, which by the way, was 30 yards away from the pet relief area.

After all this rain I finally got back to the deconstruction of the old house. The other guy left and hasn't showed up so the owner is going to let me finish the job. Got the rafters 2by4. ..joist 2by6....and 5 long 4by4 posts . Also a bunch of one by four stuff. Getting quite a but of wood. Will get what is good in the floor and then take out the floor joist if they are any good. Then just throw everything left in the basement and burn it.

No it was simply a case of his parents babying him.He was both
a Momma's Boy and a Daddy's boy.In my family structure my mom & dad
would never even debate whether I could change my first name.
Just like in my upbringing the Nuns { in parochial school } were always
right.Whatever they said about a student was taken as fact and that was it.
None of this P.C. crapola where maybe the Nun is mistaken.That was NOT
how Nun's as teachers were looked at.That applied to all students AND
their Parents.What a Nun said was Golden.Like if scripture coming to life.
The first time I got the belt { or strap } from my Old Man was the night
a Nun called and made a complaint about me.Supposedly a kid on the bus
told her parents something I did on the bus coming home from school.I had
No Idea what and where this complaint came from.In fact,it wasn't even explained
to me.Just that I did something naughty on the bus to a kid on the Bus.
My Old Man was raging mad.Virtually out of his mind.He got his thickest
trousers belt and gave me 10 good lashes as I was bent over stark naked on my
bed.Of course I cried.My Old man kinda quickly felt guilty and had me take
a warm bath.To this day I have not a clue as to what the Nun told my
Mom & Dad I " supposedly " did on that bus.

How about yer lunch time.You never expound on dat.That could very well
be much more interesting that talking about old wood vs. new wood and
rafters,joists and who knows what else.

J.F.K. used to have boxes of Hershey's bars when he was a PT
boat Lieutenant.He was originally turned down for service due to being
way to skinny and had a history of being sickly.But he overcame all that with
years of hard training and eventually PT Boat service stateside.His fist PT boat
was PT 98.Then two other Hutchkins PT's -- PT-99 then PT-101.
It wasn't widely known except to select few his hiding of a serious ailment
Addison's Disease where chocolate bars were considered like a medication.

European actress { May Britt } and a proud member of an all-white
band of Ego maniacs { The Rat Pack }.
Could belt out a song while tap dancing,smoking a cig and
holding a large drink.He was also Illiterate.That wasn't known until
years later.Had a room where the bed was chock full of watches.
Probably a few million dollars worth.Probably got them while
entertaining in Las Vegas.
One of a kind he was and remains.Very talented yet very quirky.
Sometimes quirky is Goot !

 

Nothing could be farther from humanity.Humility is the
great equalizer.Those who display humility in life are greatly
rewarded in the afterlife.Being self-centered and considered the center of
your indulgent world is a grave sin.The sin of Vanity.
This is one sin that Donald Trump needs to really work on.
He is way to Vain and Proud.He suffers a total lack of the
virtues of Humility.That is about my only complaint of the man.
He Loves America.But also hisself.Not necessarily the same thing.
Bush 43 was quite the practitioner of Humility,especially after leaving
office.It has served him very well.

PC's project is very interesting. Always makes me want to volunteer to pitch in and help, and glad that it is so easy to avoid giving in to that impulse.

There is so much demo and salvage that needs to be done in this country now, and the opportunities for salvage are rotting away with every rain storm.
