Any other way to generate income without travel?
    Dispatch?
    Hiring drivers?
    Telemarketing? ;-)

    Not necessary.

    I'm just needlessly worrying..

I'm well set up. Once the money starts flowing, I'm going to have all that I need. I'm just really tight. I'm hoping that I won't have to dip into cash on hand, in order to get by.

No one needs to worry about me. I will be fine.

I'm just feeling a bit vulnerable. I will end up living the life of Riley. It's just that, right now, I'm not comfortable with the lack of funds coming in. That will change as soon as things are set up.

I like the Ramen noodles in the plastic with the flavor packets. No dehydrated corn or carrots. Also chicken flavor is all I care for. We get raw shrimp from Wally world and I have been known to thaw some out and throw them in the mix. Leftover corn....cut off the cob....shrimp.... Broccoli. ...whatever...I take a bowl of water ....one packet of noodles...and the other stuff....if any...I put the bowl of water in a pan ....bring to boil...add flavor packet and stir in with a fork ....a little soy sauce. ...noodles ....and uncooked veggies...cooked veggies and shrimp after noodles soften....shrimp last...when shrimp turns red eat.

I am still waiting for that market crash to buy. The endless bull market believers are very amused at my cash heavy predicament. ;-)

I did buy a little on the last mini dip. Are you still in cash?

The 401k is roughly 50% cash or ultra short term bonds. The rest of it is total stock market and a global fund.

My IRA accounts have some stock and bond funds, but mostly contain super risky ETFs that generate income beyond what a sane person would aim for. For example, one of the largest holdings in my Roth account is the Pimco fund PTY. That's also my oldest holding.

During this last little dip, I added a tiny bit to a preferred stock fund. I had expected to buy more of it, but the price went back up before I spent my budget.

I'm not a stock-picker, but buying funds is just like you describe. I have money to spend, but everything is so darn expensive.

Almost all the experts would like your diversified portfolio except for the "super risky" ETF. I would prefer that ETF to bonds, but that is just me. - I don't trust bonds.

More conservative dividend funds for retirees are hard to argue against. They may be perfect, especially if they generate enough income for you to keep expanding your portfolio. I am a stock-picker so I would really like to see a correction soon for some easy pickings. :)

This being retired is weird. After some 45 years of working and collecting a paycheck, it's a big adjustment for me to not have money coming in.

I'm really pretty well set up with 6 months of savings and no debts. It's just that this waiting for money to start coming is gnawing at me.

I like to shred up chicked and put in there. Or cut a steak into cube. I'll also dump in some frozen vegetables. Something that might not sound too good, but is, is to plop an egg or two in there. Let simmer for about a minute, until it's partly cooked. Then, stir it up to break it up.

I never thought about egg drop soup but have thought about a won ton base. And frozen vegetables work well especially frozen peas. My usual won ton base is the bones from chicken breast and a bouillon cube...chicken of course. Need to boil the chicken bones a long time....till it renders yellow oil in the stock water.

I'll also dump kimchi in there.

I'll have to try the chicken bone thing. How much do you use? Say you put in all of the bones from one chichen breast. How much water would that be enough for?

We usually buy bone in chicken breast and freeze the bones. I would guess about one breast bone for each cup of water...less breast meat bone and fat more bullion cubes. Can also add carrot tops and clean onion roots in there. I like the broth pretty clear.

In a previous career, I was changing jobs. Part of the training was to attend a three week class in Meridian, Mississippi. Everybody else was from there. Once I could understand the accent of my classmates, I realized just how smart they all were.

    https://www.meridianms.org/

As I had free use of a rental car, I would drive to New Orleans each weekend. Somebody had set a discarded recliner on the shoulder of the interstate. It became a landmark for me while along the way.

Every time I went there, there were a couple of guys in a Jeep. They drove down the main street in the French Quarter with a big sound system.

I always heard the same song. At least they had good taste.
