    I can't help but clean up the post.Because it's more confusing than need be.
    Instead ... " the dog had completely crossed the street "
    A dog crossed the street,when I approached it ran back to cross again.
    When you say " the dog " you make it personal as if either you
    or the dog are famaliar.What has " completely crossed " supposed to infer.
    Also what does " some neighbors " infer.That others neighbors were
    at or near the scene and did not aid.
    When telling a story { regardless true or fiction } keep it simple and
    uncomplicated.That was how Ernest Hemingway treated his craft.
    The worstest novels i ever read { or attempted } were mostly ones
    that were too involved.Too much description of things or areas of
    concern that do not improve the storyline.
    In Poetry it's completely different.Even use of flowery prose
    is not technically considered Poetry.Where metrical structure
    is the thing.

    Me and a couple of friends went fishing in the Everglades today.

    This bridge right on 41 also known as the tamiami trail, has tons of snook under it. About every few minutes like clockwork they go into a feeding frenzy.

    I caught two myself and they both got several. It was 120 mile drive to get there one way. This bridge only has about 3 ft between the bottom of the bridge and the water you have to sling your line up in there to get to them but they are in there by the ton.

    Pretty amazing when you think that down this very road once traveled Elvis JFK and Marilyn Monroe. Think of all the money dope and firearms that travel this road every day. Road goes right into Miami.

    We has several firearms with us including one of those scary AR-15s, but we never did find the time or the place to shoot them

    I was playing the narrator yesterday as though we had gotten lost in the Everglades on that boat.

    Day one, after realizing we had become hopelessly lost ( the batteries in our cell phones and the GPS unit had long since died) we took what was left of the shrimp in our bait bucket and found some twigs and skewered them and cooked them on a small brush fire. Which was no easy task as everything that look like land was actually nothing but a stand of bushes and muck that you would sink to your waist in if you got out of the boat.

    Halfway through the second day after having survived the first night of being feasted on by every mosquito in the northern hemisphere, it was then that the beer ran out in the cooler and I knew that we were in trouble.....

    Day three and no food, fatback had long since eaten up all the snacks on the boat the very first day. With every new turn through the sawgrass I expected to see either a python a crocodile or a miccosukee Indian.

    Day number four, in between belts of torrential rain pour, the relentless Sun would come back out and beat down upon us. Our hopes of rescue were fading fast, and then fatback had a brilliant idea he said just catch an illegal fish and try putting it in the live well surely a game warden will find us within the hour.....

    Lol

    I remember once driving out on the connecting road that lies between my driveway and the Main drag.. I wasn't up to full speed but still going about 20 when this really BIG dog runs out in front of me and I could NOT avoid hitting it. The creature falls down and rolls over about 4x then gets up and runs away as if nothing had happened. My car wasn't really hurt though the headlight needed to be re aimed

    I talked to neighbors about it, They said it was some sort of wolfhound and it apparently enjoyed doing this as a sort of game. The owners got rid of it when some people threatened to charge for car damages

    And furthermore if there is no such thing as an illegal..... I should have been able to keep all of my catch without worrying about the slot limit.

    Because if there is no such thing as an illegal there should be no such thing as an illegal fish!!!!

    Even had we made the legal slot limit of 28 to 32 inches, the season was closed for snook.

    The largest specimen caught measured 33 in and was of course released, much to the detriment of my sadness in my belly. Just spent all this time and gas money you come and catch this thing just to throw it back and watch it swim away....

    But they will haul your ass to jail over those snook.... Especially if you have more than one, your whole truck trailer and boat.... your every, everything can get taken away over an illegal fish, but there's no illegal humans....

    May I suggest you buy a copy of either season one or Season Two
    of - Gentle Ben - The 60's TV Series.With popular Dennis Weaver
    as the Florida Everglades Game warden.His spunky and cute wife,
    his little boy and of course the Black bear ... Ben.
    Some episodes are pretty good as far as acting.With popular
    *actors usually up to something fishy.The Scenery is original,and
    the action is believable enough.I ordered both seasons a few years ago.
    I doubt that TV series will ever be offered on TV crap shoots like Netflix
    are too consumed with flicks that have hidden political agendas.
    There is nothing in the way of politics to intercede in the watching of
    - Gentle Ben - { 1967-69 }.

    * Fritz Weaver { one of me favorites }
    Bart Star { Football Legend }
    Slim Pickens { No one is not unfamaliar with } use of 3 negatives
    Victor French { Highway to Heaven }
    William Windom { Farmer's Daughter,Murder She Wrote }
    Burt Reynolds { Plays a co-pilot } A Gator boy at heart
    Mala Powers { actress }
    Pat Hingle { Splendor in the Grass } Best tearjerker of all time.
    Howard Da Silva { Bartender in the classic - The Lost Weekend - }
    Sidney Blackmer { - Rosemary's Baby - }
    Tom Poston - { Newhart,To Tell the Truth }
    Strother Martin { - Cool Hand Luke - }Perfect role for him as poacher
    Stuart Erwin { Forgotten studio actor known for meekness }.
    Simon Oakland { - Bullitt - and - The Sand Pebbles - }
    Albert Salmi { Never liked }
    Ron Howard { who cares }

    There is a house on the road that leads out from mine, that has a dog that loves to leap at the car and chase tires. Even though I keep an eye out for him, sometimes he's hidden in the grass and I don't see him until he's barking and leaping at the car, which scares the crap out of me.

    I wonder what the liability issue would be if the dog caused an accident.....

    @fooli are you naturally obnoxious or do you have to work at it? This makes three times when interaction with you has tilted negative.. once when you said you saw no value in "likes" and did not want any, again when you chimed in about the number of miles possible on a vehicle,, insinuating that high mileage vehicle I personally knew of just couldn't be (remember those westerns where "are you calling me a liar" was uttered? How did those turn out? Again when you insinuated that FB and my post about animals, or the handling of dangerous animals was macho posturing, and now,, the wordiest poster on this entire site giving advise on writing style (and for your edification, I don't spend much time on spitting out a post.. sometimes I don't even correct spelling and grammar errors)

    LOL, we dont wear them but point taken!

    Had we truly gotten lost, we would have been well armed, had a .22 rifle and an AR 15 with us...

    On any such trip, it's a good idea to have the basics for 3 days. Food, water and shelter. I will never go on a boat like that but that I aint got 3 cases of beer!

    The water never got deeper than 2 and a half ft.....but, you get out of that boat and you would be waist deep in muck, as soon as your full weight beared down.

    Also, I had a can of 99% deet bug spray. I suppose it's possible you could actually die fro mosquito bites. Did not need to use it but we got out of there before sundown. On the Tamiami trail, there are REAL indian villages. Each one being about 2 acres, surrounded by a stockade fence and several families living there.

    If you have ever driven the Tamiami Trail, you have seen the "Indian village" signs @Pro_Line_FL you ever driven it?

    The "alligator alley" is another road (I-75) which cuts through the Glades as well and they do safaris up there too. And Okeechobee road in Broward county.

    Yeah I've never taken that one only 41 it was the second time some friends and I had been down there.

    The first time we went damn near all the way to Miami. That bridge where we were fishing is not too far past Naples where it makes that turn and heads to the east maybe only 12 miles have you ever have the time and inclination to go you can catch the hell out of some snook right there.

    From what I have seen of i-75 there's not a whole lot of places to get off in through there. Not far from where we were fishing if we would have kept going to the east a little bit on the north side of 41 there's a dam there this is well before Ochoppy.

    Ironically enough even having traveled 3 mi or so in the boat we did not see a single alligator. Up here closer to where I live if you go out highway 72 and cross over the myakka River you'll see about 30 alligators just chilling on the bank as you drive by

    Saw a red bellied woodpecker this morning in our magnolia tree. He was pecking away at the bugs. It was right outside the window during breakfast.

    I don't know what the policy nor procedure Internationally
    for getting a kitten.If one wants to acquire { buy } a Puppy { In the U.S. }
    there's a mandatory waiting period.I think it's around 6-8weeks.
    That Kitten looks pretty young.Most those who have Kittens that young
    in the states is because they came from Feral cats that they may have been
    feeding on the side.I have a former Biker buddy and his wife that seem to
    enjoy feeding feral cats.And their Offspring.They have no offspring of their own.
    They always kept 4 dogs.And feed them people food.I warned agin' it.
    The last 6 years all those 4 dogs passed.They moved on to Feral cats
    since.Because the Female biker friend has this thing about feeding { stuffing }
    pets.I once saw both them on a Bike trip to a nice Restaurant { maybe 12 years ago }
    where there was a small exotic pet santuary do something I considered stupid.
    After the Nice lunch and visiting the Restaurants Exotic Animal sanctuary
    { There as a Camel also } we decided to get some homemade Ice Cream.
    As we were having our Ice Cream a Dog { I think an Irish Setter } was
    roaming the grounds and came over.We were outside in some area
    with picnic tables and chairs and shade trees.These former Biker buddies
    started scooping out gobs of homemade Ice Cream to the Irish Setter.
    I found fault.I thought it Juvenile.I explained implicedly how I'd never
    done that to any my dogs.My First dog,a Husky Named Dominic }
    lived just shy of 13 years.I wrote about it here.My 2nd Husky named
    Kodiac lived a little over 15 years.I still implore for Smarty to find a way
    to Retrieve my Original Kodiak commemoration here at the Grill.
