Mindy gave us a little rain and enough wind to break a pecan branch. The branch is hanging down and will have to be pulled down. That is going to be a pain.

Best translated as the motivation or the urge

"ganas" mean " you earn" and it is hot for a majority of the year here. soooo things still have to be done.. I do work in the heat and it might surprise most to see how I dress,, long sleeve shirt, heavy canvass pant, bandanna covering exposed skin,, all made of cotton, straw hat and heavy leather gloves.
I have a heavy leather motorcycle jacket.. the bikers from elsewhere think it is just nuts that I'll wear it in triple digit heat. I just say that road rash on a 120 degree ashalt road is worse than just road rash .. and then point to their neon red arms. It's cool enough when the bike is moving.. the most important thing to remember is to stay hydrated, you can loose a lot of moisture and not realise it because sweat don't pool up or gather.

Thanks, when riding in the heat sometimes it feels like instead of getting cooler you just burst into flames.

    Twenty Years Ago Today
    Never Forget
Twenty years ago today I was deep in the woods in New York State. I had no idea what was going on. It was getting late and I packed up and started heading home. After some time past, I turned on the radio and heard what I thought was some type of updated version of War of the Worlds. I change the channel. All the channels were saying the same thing. We were attacked. All bridges and tunnels into and out of the city were closed because they thought bombs were planted. I needed to cross one of those closed bridges to get home. At that point, trying to figure out what the hell was going on changed to, I'm going home to my family no matter what it takes. When I finally got close to the bridge I thought, unroll the windows. If this bridge goes down and I live, I am not drowning. I got to the bridge and the flashing sign across the bridge said, "God Bless America". I will never forget the emotion I felt in the totality of that moment. I made it home. Then it became, who was there? Are they OK? How can we help.

God rest all those souls who moved on that day and since. My deepest sympathy to everyone who lost a loved one on that day and well past that day.

It was terrible watching it unfold on the news. It must have been far worse being there, having family there, recognising the places you know so well.

    Why am I so stupid?

I decided to explore a bike/hiking trail. Today... On a Sunday...

Every Gomer, and his/her kids and dogs was out there.

Yes, I crashed while avoiding a dog.

People just don't care about anyone but themselves.

Unfortunately, the 'mememe' syndrome isn't just hiking trails. Hope you didn't mash anything too badly. We don't bounce back as easily as we used to....

Been working on the deck roof and had a visitor. It was a gray looking hummingbird. It just flew over to check out my work and hit the lavender planted in a pot on the deck. Later the male came by. I texted my wife to get a hummingbird feeder and she brought back this tiny thing because it was all she could find. Well, I filled it up with sugar and water and set it out above the lavender. They male found it and got a big drink. He then went chasing the female. I saw them both this afternoon....

The larger birds usually come by in the morning to check my progress then leave. A mockingbird was the last morning visitor I saw.

Hummingbird came up to feed. It paused long enough to get a look....kinda...it has a green back. And it can fly pretty fast.

Did you know that hummingbirds are the only bird that can fly in reverse?

We have Ruby-throated hummers here, and get quite a bit of enjoyment from their antics come August and September.

Yes, I did know they fly backwards. I am still trying to identify. The male is a little more skittish.

and Gomer, his kids and dog had every right to be there ... my 6 year old grandson got plowed over by an irresponsible cyclist on a mixed use trail here in Arizona ... not sure where you live but hikers have the right of way on trails here ... slow the **** down! ...

When we stayed in Yosemite we would sit on the porch and watch the hummingbirds come and feed. It was wonderful, we don't have them in England.

How fast was I going? What is an acceptable speed?
Do the Gomers have the right to occupy the entire width of the trail, with their dog on a ten-foot leash?

Sorry about your grandson. I guess you got even with me, though.

That is too bad. They say a hummingbird coming to you is a good omen.
