    A Smith College employee called the police on a black student who was eating lunch in a common area because she “seemed to be out of place,” the school said.


    What is "being out of place"?

    Can someone show me the part of the article where it says the police were called BECAUSE this person was black? Does anyone know the race of the person who called the cops?

    From the article: "....and I deserve to feel safe on my campus.” And that's exactly what the cop was ensuring.

    I'm not sure what blacks who are simply going about their daily business are supposed to do to avoid getting the police called on them. She's sitting there, eating her lunch, what else is she supposed to do to not get the cops called on her?

    If someone defends this, then you're simply a sad individual.

    For all we know, this student and another student set it up... just so she could say "it's because I'm black".

    You have no idea why the cops were called. None.

    This woman ASSUMES the cops came because she was black, why would she think that? Can you tell me? And as usual, anyone who attempts to say anything other than what you want to hear is a sad individual.

    Black people never do anything wrong. If cops are called it’s always because of their race, didn’t you know:)

    She never said that they didn't allow her......she said that she shouldn't have to explain being there. In other words, she shouldn't have to explain herself to an employee of an institution that accepted her. Is this elementary enough or do I need to break it down further?

    When the police start to ignore these "boy cried wolf" calls, you're going to end up with unintended consequences. You're just going to embolden actual criminals no matter who they are. Your racism is going to work against you. But it won't just be the minorities, it'll be every criminal from every race from every walk of life.
