Someone just recommended a movie called Air, about Nike and Michael Jordan. I haven't seen it yet and am a little dubious, because it stars the obnoxious and untalented Ben Affleck. But I do like Matt Damon.

I used to wonder how these shoe companies could afford to offer so many pro athletes these mega shoe deals, but young males (maybe females, too?) collect shoes like some people collect jewelry or purses. Or coins and stamps, in my day (1000 years ago).

I once had a client living at home with his mom, and I went to his small house to see him. He must have had at least 100 pairs of sneakers in his size, most of them still in the box. They were neatly arrayed in his closet and all along the floor of the hallway. His mother kept them washed.

Was this kid typical? There must be lots of kids and 20 somethings like him buying every new shoe Nike comes out with for Nike to justify all the deals. And of course I see stories about gangs stealing other people's shoes after beating them up.

Well, most shoes are now stitched together by child slaves in the likes of China and Vietnam getting a bowl as rice as payment, so the likes of Nike pay pence and sell them for big money. Then just like the guy in your story, there are some willing to waste thousands on these things.

I have 3 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of trainers, 1 pair of work shoes (steel toe capped), and 2 pairs of work wellington boots (steel toe capped). And I still feel I have too many. And I have 2 pairs of wellingtons because I had to buy another pair because I couldn't remember where the first pair were.

I have two pairs of work boots and three pairs of crock sandals.

Soon to be adding a pair of motocross boots to go along with the fresh new screws in my ankle...lol. the hope is those boots will prevent any further screws.

It is quite ridiculous how much some people spend on shoes.

I currently have around 9 pairs of tennis shoes and somewhere around that number of dress shoes and I think 4 pairs of boots. Of all those, I bought only 2 pairs. The rest were gifts from a relative who doesn't know what else to buy me so they always get me shoes for birthdays and Christmases. 5 pairs of the tennis shoes have never been worn.

Don't forget the hats, sneaker heads always have a hat to match whatever shoes they're wearing.

One of my pairs of work boots is a Carhartt sneaker boot. They are like work boots on the bottom but more like a lightweight canvas sneaker on top. I was wearing those when I broke my ankle on the bike.

My caterpillar work boots which have more of a traditional boot over the ankle might have prevented it but from now on it will be motocross boots for that task.

I was also considering a good pair of square toed slip-on work boots but that's on the back burner now.

When it comes to a decent boot expect to spend at least a hundred bucks but don't go crazy spending over $300 but then again don't get the Walmart junk either.

Plenty of good boots out there between and 100 and $200

It's a very good film, if you're slightly interested in the subject although Ido agree with the sentiment about Ben Affleck, can't stand his "acting" but he appears in a lot of Matt Damon flicks whom Ido like.

The thing about sneakers is two fold. One, your shoes are extremely important, especially you're a "foot" person. Two, it's an investment because these things hold their value very well and some can even sky rocket in price, which leads us back to One. Ilove feet, because I'm an athlete.

shoes today are like coins. They are bought as investments and grow in value.
