So did anyone see Roseanne get back on tv while trying to stir controversy?

So the Roseanne show came back this week and they are trying to be edgy and current. Evidently Roseanne is a trumpista, but I do not know how a comedian who's comedy often is about hating men likes a ***** grabbing manchild?

Are any of you right wing people happy to see Roseanne on your side?

Then on top of that she is pushing transgender issues into the show for middle America. Sure I am for it, but are the alt right going to actually watch and learn from the show? That brings me to my next point, she doesn't have a clue what she is talking about because a trans child would have said she was a girl and not been a boy wearing girls clothing to be artsy. Is that what she thinks transsexuals are? Because that is wrong.

But they at least defended him wearing girls clothing. It is pushing some things out there and I am not sure that she doesn't come up short on either side.

Anyone else see the show and have thoughts?

I had posted a few thoughts yesterday: http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/the-revival-of-the-rosanne-show.529500/

Now I'm curious, but where are you getting the "alt right" from? There can't be more than a couple of thousand people in the country who identify as "alt right" so how could they have any influence in TV ratings? They are a drop in the ocean. So whether the alt right has an opinion on Rosanne or not, I doubt it matters.

Yes, it smashed all records in doing it.

Also, how dare you assume that a boy who wants to wear girls clothes is transgender? Why are you trying to assign his chosen gender for him and decide how and what he should wear?

I missed the show, but the people I know who watched it said they enjoyed it. Hoping to catch it on a re-run, as I used to enjoy the original back in the day.

Rather than bitch about the state of the US' half a dozen multinational corporation controlled media machine, I just don't watch it.

I watched the show, and I enjoyed it. It's not high comedy, but IMHO she is very good at one-liners.

However, the one without a clue regarding what they are talking about is yourself. There is a difference between a transgender and a transvestite. A child (or adult for that matter) can identify as a boy and still dress as a girl. Quite honestly, if this was the real world, such gender non-conforming behavior in a little boy is a likely indicator of homosexuality but that still doesn't mean they automatically identify as a girl.

I don't know about you but I'm tired of the gender-fluid matriarchy gendersplaining to us!

The only "lesson" to be learned regarding trans-people is that being trans doesn't enhance your existing rights or magically give you new ones.

The progressive stack isn't equality because equality doesn't mean you get +points for each special interest modifier.

I never watched the original Roseanne so I'm not particularly inclined to watch the reboot, but if the show gets around to that sort of lesson I'm sure I'll hear about it when the bigots take to the streets demanding the show be canceled and the writers arrested for hate crimes.

I actually thought it was well done. It showed the man of the house (John Goodman) as not being comfortable with it BUT at the same time, it didn't fall into the ridiculous Hollywood trope of making him a caricature vile, hateful bigot determined to kick the child out of the house.

The show demonstrated that you can be a good person and a good guy and not necessarily be totally cool with your son (or in this case grandson) dressing like a little girl.

Well I'm reading the network signed the paper for season 2 so I'm guessing we'll see how this evolves for better or worse.

I watched it and enjoyed it. I enjoyed Roseanne as a comedian before the show, and I used to watch the original show back in the day and was happy to see it back. I always enjoyed the characters and snappy dialogue. The show did have a small history of "pushing the envelope" with social issues.......who cares? Funny is funny, and it struck a chord with blue collar people and many others.

As for your question about right wing people being happy to see Roseanne on "our" side? I would point out that it is generally the LEFT who cares most about the politics of "celebrities". I couldn't care less. When it comes to entertainment, I enjoy what I enjoy and don't give a rat's ass about the politics of the person involved. Being an actor, comedian, writer, sports player, etc does not make one's political opinion worth more than anyone else's, it merely increases the size of the soapbox. For example, I have been a huge Stephen King fan from the age of 13 (now 54). I love his novels, look forward to every one. When he has been asked about it, I think his political views are asinine. Don't agree at all. Doesn't change how I feel about his "product" and his talent. Don't like his political views, but then I might not agree with his taste in cuisine either. So what?

This but unironically. Clothes are just fibers stitched together, they have no spiritual energies that are going to shrink your gonads. If people get to wear sweatpants to walmart and feel good about it, there's no reason why all clothing shouldn't be treated as gender neutral.

I think we should get a bunch of matriarchs to do the thing from a clockwork orange where they hold your eyes open and make you watch things except it's the gayest movie marathon ever devised. Just an otherworldly torrent of rampant homosexuality.

I anticipate she will first try to redefine being Republican and conservative as pro-gun control, pro-abortion, pro-gay rights, pro-trans rights, while trying to wrap it around pro-Trump. However, as the election approaches she will become increasingly anti-Republican, while somewhat still acting pro-Trump.

Sorry, but you'll have to keep watching your gay movie marathons with otherworldy torrent of rampant homosexuality on your own.

I watched the show, on & off, when it aired in the late 80's into the 90's. I only caught pieces of the premiere of the new show the other night. It should be good...and funny, the cast is back and, by & large, and they were very good years ago. Whether Barr is a Trump fan or not won't determine whether I watch it or not.

It's nice to see the far right has forgiven Barr for trashing the anthem almost 28 years ago, the infamous "Barr Mangled Banner". :D

I have decided I will always refer transgenders as what they were born as. Bruce Jenner is Bruce Jenner and will always be a "he". This is based on a science known as biology.

Bruce Jenner is now Caitlyn Marie Jenner, and a female. This based on the law, which you apparently have no respect for.....
