Now even more public tax dollars will be spent to appease the fanatical Christian Right.

This will of course expands to other states now. We will be forced to subsidize the ridiculous beliefs in big daddy sky fairy.

I cant wait to see the first fundamentalist Madras setup with public funds. Somehow I bet those same Christians who will undoubtedly applaud this ruling will go nuts about that and find some way to exclude it I am sure.

Or how about satanic schools? Will Christians be okay with that?

This is the most dangerous Supreme Court in the history of the nation. They are quickly tearing down standing precedent after standing precedent in the pursuit of some right wing Christian Nationalist utopian fantasy.

I hope Biden DOES pack the courts before he leaves office. Its the only way to stop this minority rule over the majority of the nation.

I pretty much despise Christian Nationalists with a passion. I cant stand them. This of course, includes most Trumpers. Not all Trumpers are Christian Nationalists. But Almost all Christian Nationalists are Trumpers.

And by extension, I pretty much despise the way the right wing hijacked the courts to enforce a minority rule in America over the majority. The theft of Merick Garlands seat was dispicable.

I know most Right Wingers dont really care because to them, any means justifies the end result.

If they keep this up, it will make the already almost certain likelihood of a low grade Civil War in America a reality.

we don't want to pay for their christian education either. if you do, how can you object to rastafarian schools where they learn the fine points of their sacrament?

While I broadly agree with you, and while I think faith schools have the right to exist, do not think taxpayers should pay for them. Either their diocèse or bishopric should do so or be self sufficient in charging fées.
However the idea of séparation of church and state has to do with political influence.

We all have to pay for things we don't agree with. That's what happens when you have a productive robust society with a tax system. IMO this country could use a bit more jesus. ;)

    so true

    http://rationalrevolution.net/articles/history_of_the_separation_of_chu.htm

"When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one."

Writing for the majority, Chief Justice John Roberts said Maine’s program “promotes stricter separation of church and state than the federal Constitution requires.”

The tuition program is not neutral, he said, because “the state pays tuition for certain students at private schools — so long as the schools are not religious. That is discrimination against religion.”

Keeping the church and state separate is not discriminatory, it's constitutional.

Sure if that district and the tax paying home owners want to create that. But I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

It doesn't take long to read the first amendment. It does not separate church and state. It prevents government from establishing a religion and provides for freedom of religion for the citizens. This decision is correct according to the first amendment. It would be unconstitutional to prevent government from denying funding because of religion if the funding is available to those that do not teach religion. It would also be unconstitutional to force funding because of religion. You can find the bill of rights on the internet. Just read it. It is quite clear. Remind me not to hire you as an attorney.

that is exactly how it works, if they discriminate against other religions, it becomes unconstitutional, all or none

that is why Louisiana had to fund Muslim schools when they funded Christian schools, all or none

certainly does, that is why Louisiana had to fund Muslim schools when they funded Christian schools, all or none

Louisiana taxpayers now support the Muslim religion

that is the reality of it - did you think this only applied to the Christian Religion? Oops!

what do you think it requires to create a new public school in an area? Just some hope and a little bit of pocket change?

HB976, now signed into law as Act 2, proposed, among other things, a voucher program allowing state educational funds to be used to send students to schools run by religious groups …
