Mainly the question is for Democrats but Republicans can repy as well. IF you Democrats FAIL to re-take the House or Senate who will you blame? You have been bleeding seats on the State and National levels for a while now, record numbers not seen since Watergate. If Republicans HOLD even the smallest margins in 18 then 20 will be a BLOW OUT for them. Some of your folks have already lost to hard core Marxists. So the divide "idea" is very very real. The "walk away" movement is also very real. Will you admit and blame yourself at that point? Will you blame Pelosi? Watters? Clinton? Obama? Maybe the Russians AGAIN? Will you blame the deplorables? Maybe the rednecks? I HONESTLY think you WILL LOSE some more hose seats and MAYBE two senate seats. So when that happens and you run outside to scream, who are you going to be screaming at? Honky
Correction: Democrats have been winning since mid 2017 in dozens of state and federal special elections and off year elections since mid 2017. The early special elections of 2017 where Republicans won all but one of them, there was a swing in votes towards the Democrats. There was a losing streak from 2014 to 2016, but that looks to be over. Since that losing streak however, it's been an uphill battle to recover. Every small victory is to be savored. There might just yet be a big victory on the horizon. IF Democrats don't take back the House, I'll blame nobody. I'll celebrate a net gain of seats in the House and holding on to Senate seats. Let's face it: Drumpf is not winning over any new voters to add to those he won in 2016. There will be no net GAIN of Republican seats. If I'm wrong on this, then I will make the lives of American expats in my country very unpleasant. Like dumping garbage at the gates of your embassy. But if I'm correct and Republicans hold the House but have a more narrow majority (this is my personal prediction), I'll chalk it up to Republican gerrymandering and the fact that the drag through the mud for the Democrats to recover from the recent losing streak continues and some progress has been made.
Bizarrely, the media is already starting to report on alleged Russian interference for the 2018 election. Don't they think that if theDems win big, the GOP will be able to blame the Russians?
More than likely this will be the outcome, its a midterm and the democrats are out of power so historically that means more seats gained. The numbers in the senate are just horrible for them right now so just staying even there is the best they can hope for, that should give them a decent shot in 2020 unless they lose around 4 or more. The House is unlikely but as you said, putting them within easy range for 2020 shouldn't be a problem. If I were Trump I'd be getting a move on as far as getting legislation done because if the democrats win either house in 2020 his agenda is all but stopped.
