Strange how socialism looks better from America than from say, Venezuela? Cuba? Zimbabwe? South Africa? Former Soviet satellite states? Former East Berliners and East Germans? And on, and on, and on. More strange is how good capitalism looks to Red China, who now appears to like American green than Mao’s Little Red Book.

I wonder how that can be? Perhaps reality is the cause?

Perhaps you haven't bothered to understand either capitalism or socialism? Socialists, for example, tended to criticise China. Despite maintaining human rights abuses and therefore attacking individualism, right wingers have tended to celebrate her.

I was responding to Texas Republican, who said that in capitalism one worker makes$100.000 an another makes $20'000 depending on skill level. Under socialism you simply have 4 workers each making 25,000 . He makes it sound like Putin and the garbage collecter make the same pay under socialism.Just tyying to set the record straight. Then he makes the crack about Cuban healthcare. The lifespan of cubans is longer than americans. just a comment in response. SO ' I don't quite understand how you were correcting me. please explain.

Socialism and capitalism are forms of econimic systems. They have nothing to do with criticizing China.

You say nothing. Anti-Socialists use China without insight. They deem it socialist (when it wasn't) and then celebrate it (when it is anti-individualism)

A vacuous response. We don't know how much a worker makes. Why? Because the firm decides and that decision is based on worker democracy.

Why don't you try looking up "socialism" in the dictionary and then get back

A nothing response! That you think a dictionary is sufficient for political economy is a giggle mind you.

Don't get all racist about it now. It seems to me that every time you point out a successful society, you point out a whiter society.

Socialism = from each according to their ability and to each according to their need.
Free Market = from each according to their will and to each according to their ability.

Socialism is compulsory. Free markets are mutually voluntary.

Socialism minimizes inequity at the expense of wellbeing.
Free markets maximize wellbeing at the expense of equity.

Both free markets and socialism work every time they're tried; however, they define success in opposite terms.

If one attributes to race, or racism, that which is not attributable to race, or racism, that one is just as much a racist either way.

Still nonsense! First, there isn't a free market. Its neither achievable or desirable (e.g. we know that market failure would run amok). There is 'free market economics', but that has been proven to simply allow corporate power to intensify rent seeking behaviour (which is one reason why plastic libertarian sites are funded by big business). Second, there is no clear distinction between socialism and the market. The clue is in the title of one approach: market socialism.

More nonsense! Socialism appreciates that the belief that efficiency and equity are necessarily inversely related is bogus. Improvements in equity often go hand in hand with efficiency gains. We know, for example, that worker owned enterprises have higher levels of productivity. We also know that in capitalism there necessarily will be wage underpayment (with orthodox economics using monopsonistic power to understand the inefficient and inequitable wage distribution).

Free markets do not work. Its usually just a word to herd the gullible.

yeah, nothin is real unless it has a link, got it... so a person's own knowledge of events is inadmissable, good to know...

    anywho,
the medicare fraud team (federal side) does not investigate individual fraud, they pass that onto the states themselves, some states that are sanctuaries overlook that fraud because it'd go against their sanctuary theme... does anyone think that they'd keep records of that?, of course not, but they are the 'police' for individual fraud and allthey need to do is not persue it...

Ok so you claim your state hands out SSNs, SS benefits, Medicare cards, etc. to illegal aliens but keep no records of it, they don't admit it, but SOMEHOW you know it's a fact. BTW, there's no such thing as a "sanctuary state".

    LOL!!!!! :roflol:

You're assuming that they claim welfare.

It sounds like you would implement socialism by simply putting the workers in charge on a democratic basis. How would that work exactly? I can understand the executives of GM becoming workers, but where are the other 179,000 GM workers going to hold their daily or weekly planning meetings? Or will they not have planning meetings? Will they make design decisions, like 2 or 4 headlights for which models, by a voice vote or write in ballot?

You are absolutely wrong about efficiency. Efficiency is the driving force behind capitalism. One capitalist tries to best the other by being more efficient. Now inefficiencies creep in because it is inefficient for the inefficient capitalist to go out of business, but in the long run it all evens out. Capitalism also has the inefficiency of change through the drive to innovate. Socialism has no need or drive to be efficient, nor does it have to worry near as much over changes arising through innovation.

You make the standard and very convenient right wing "mistake" of assuming (pretending, actually) that the idea of democracy in a socialist economy means each worker participating in making each tiny decision about every facet and issue of their place of work. Worker co-ops are the embryonic form and example of emerging socialist economics, and they involve CEOs, Boards of Directors, managers, and officers. There is a delegation of authority. But the ultimate decisions on hiring and firing of these managerial individuals rest with the workers, who BTW are kept informed as to business statistics and performance.
