Indeed. And some want so bad to virtue signal and to be outraged, that they will manufacture it for themselves and project onto others when talking about, no I should say preaching about, such issues.

Indeed. And the OP wants so bad to VIRTUE SIGNAL about HIMSELF and to be OUTRAGED about Transgenders that the OP manufactured an entire thread for his OUTRAGE and then PROJECTS onto others when CALLED OUT for the OP's OWN PREACHING about his FAUX OUTRAGE.

    Sad!

So to be clear, you would then respect the right of someone else seeing you as opposite of what you are (assuming male, but not sure) and calling you by those pronouns?

That's a mighty big assumption. I have a sister (not blood, we're just that close) whose mother had the sister's name changed every time the mother remarried. When she old enough she went and had her name legally changed to one she preferred, and none of the myriad of her mother's previous names including maiden. Unless you can produce some sort of study about how carefully parents choose their names, that assumption was pulled out of your arse.

nope. the only perceptions I need to believe are from me. I know what is happening in me, no one else does. I might need a doctor to help me with why I perceive these things and how to fix them, but only my perceptions matters when it comes to me. Going back to the pain example, no one else's perception of what my pain should be matter. It only matters what I feel the pain is.

Given all the science and medical material out there showing transgenderism is real, that would be you and yours.

What does whether it is genetic or not have to really do with anything? The fact remains that this is an innate part of who they are, regardless of cause or causes.

Chest thumping duly noted. False assumptions and projections equally so.
People have rights and protections. Special rights and special protections for special groups, especially specially small groups, should have very special attention. Trying to require others to perceive as one does is disruptive and egoistic. Trying to patiently convince them is different.
There are so many much larger issues for society to confront that insisting on this in the way it is being done reinforces the impression that it is being done for other than the most constructive reasons.

Remind me again. What is the determining factor for male?

What "special rights" would those be?

That is YOUR false assumption, NOT mine!

Now where is YOUR evidence of any "special rights" for Transgenders?

Or did you just pull that out of the same place that the OP did originally?

Calling someone by the pronoun that they are presenting themselves as is RESPECTING their EXISTING right to human DIGNITY.

That is a strawman. David has yet to indicate any anti-trans position here, and even I, who have been pro-trans, have called you out on your misrepresentation of transgenders as a specific topic by including LBGT as a whole. You are in effect number inflating to make your point and it is dishonest. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with the topic and including them, save maybe as a parallel example, is dishonest and disingenuous.

Required speech is not a "right" Americans are going to accept.

Only one of us being "dishonest and disingenuous" and I know that it is NOT me doing it!

Per the Gallup link I provided YOU with earlier in this thread the LBGTQ community INCREASED in self identification by 25% over a 3 year period! That is an INDISPUTABLE fact that is NEITHER dishonest nor disingenuous.

What that 25% INDICATES is that those who were "in the closet" are COMING OUT in ever greater numbers.

Which means that it is IRRELEVANT exactly how many are REPRESENTED by the "T" in LBGTQ because what actually MATTERS now is that society can no longer CHERRY PICK and "accept" Gays while continuing to DISPARAGE and DENIGRATE those "icky" Transgenders that make them feel UNCOMFORTABLE.

Either you SUPPORT the RIGHTs of ALL members of the LBGTQ community or you are being HYPOCRITICAL by using the same INVALID allegations about Transgenders that were DEBUNKED when it came to Gays.

So which of is being "dishonest and disingenuous" when it comes to the RIGHTS of the entire LBGTQ community because I know that I UPHOLD the rights of ALL members?

By DENYING the rights of any ONE of the LBGTQ community you not only deny the rights of ALL members but you end up denying YOURSELF the same rights because that is how rights work. Either EVERYONE has them or NO ONE has them.

    Which is it?

Are YOU going to sacrifice YOUR own right to human DIGNITY and RESPECT for the sake of CHERRY PICKING against just the Transgenders?

Appeal to the Majority "chest thumping" FALLACY!

Yet another vapid REGURGITATION of the NONSENSICAL whining against Gay's having the SAME right to MARRY.

"Americans are not going to accept Gay marriage" was spouted ENDLESSLY by the theist zealots on the extreme right.

    Guess what?

A MAJORITY of Americans DO accept Gay Marriage NOW!

    Society EVOLVES!

Only 2% of Boomers self identify as LBGTQ.

9.1% of Millennials self identify as LBGTQ.

15.9% of Gen Z self identify as LBGTQ.

    https://news.gallup.com/poll/329708/lgbt-identification-rises-latest-estimate.aspx

Boomers are dying off so Americans are NOT going to have any problem at all ACCEPTING that Transgenders have the RIGHT to human Dignity and Respect by being addressed using the pronoun that applies to how they present themselves.

That same sex couples should have the same rights as traditionally married couples had was sensible and just. Insisting that the same word, "marriage" had to be used was not necessary. It was used as a method of controlling language. But that as O.K. Trite, but O.K.
Now, apparently, certain people want to take the principle further and force pronoun use. This is unreasonable. Protection for essential rights for all persons already exist. They should be enforced. All persons merit social respect until they prove otherwise. Anyone who has a problem with that doesn't understand America.
No person, however, deserves the "right" to put words in another's mouth.

That is just a FLAILING deflection!

REFUSING to use the appropriate pronoun is a de facto DENIAL of the existing RIGHTS of Transgenders.

It would certainly be rude, but would you question their legal right to do so if they genuinely believed it and were not doing it out of malice? And if they were not trying to run your life?

This is true. People can try to convince you of something, but you believe what you believe. And so the question becomes should you be compelled to lie. Perhaps you should. But it isn't obvious to me.

What is meant by it is "real"? Certainly people do feel they identify as the other gender. Is that all you mean or do you mean more?

There are other cases where speech is compelled. You are required by law to address some such as judges with particular titles, and can be held in contempt and jailed if you refuse.

I think that works out beautifully, as I highly doubt that 'someone' would seek a friendship with you either.

Speaking of which WHOSE RIGHTS was the OP trolling when he posted this thread in the Civil Rights forum?

Judging by the CONTENT of the OP it was clearly NOT supporting the RIGHTS of either Transgenders or any other members of the LBGTQ community.

Too bad the OP is incapable of addressing the egregious FAILURES of his own position.

    Sad!
