'The South African government is intending to cut diplomatic ties with Israel in protest of its treatment of the Palestinian people, the country’s Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor announced yesterday.

Pandor informed parliamentarians of the government’s resolution during a ten-hour joint debate on South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) that he delivered last week.

“The majority party has agreed, that government must cut diplomatic ties with Israel, given the absence of genuine initiatives by Israel to secure lasting peace and a viable two-state solution that includes full freedom and democracy for the Palestinian people,” she said.'

Cyril Ramaphosa the new president was leader of the negotiation team during the transfer from the National Party to the African National Congress. He understands very well what it is like to fight for freedom and I'm not surprised he can relate to the Palestinian people.

Ramaphosa is very well liked and loved among most South Africans, he has blown new hope into the country, let's hope he does not disappoint.

And I am simply saying that your position seems to be that South Africa should not judge others because of her high crime rate. And I am saying America has a VERY high crime rate as well (for countries of similar economic wealth)...so what is good for the goose....

Personally, I do not think just because a country has a high crime rate that that means they cannot cut off relations with other countries (as South Africa has done).

No actually the US does not have a very high crime rate. First of all the US has no comparison to any other country, and the difference between 1 and 5 per 100k is nowhere close to the difference between 5 per 100k and 40 per 100k. We won't even get into the accuracy of record keeping in third world violent countries.

What the US has is very specific, very centralized locations of extremely high crime, and practically none in the vast majority of the country.

I'm sure Israel is wringing their hands over this.

Israel has committed crimes of 'bullying and political correctness.' They have not broken the law, they have twisted it. Other countries twist the law all the time, why should Israel be singled out - because they are supposed to be 'so right,' okay? They are subliminally regarded as a moral compass for the world because of religion, and, often regarded as 'the good guys.' Because of this image, everything even remotely immoral is highlighted.

If we were to be honest, the Palestinian plight is brought upon themselves by themselves. Of course, they have been lazy but that is not a crime - instead of settling for their land, they opted to just remain and ignore the oncoming problems. If they had done it right, they could have gotten a lot of money for their land. Then, the fact that there are so many squatters in an area with so much beauty is also a fact to consider.

All in all, the Palestinians should be given a stake in the settlements, as, it is 'their Israel' in this bloodless war - that it is their home.

 

Oh yeah, SF will soon become another Zimbabwe where Whites will be killed and kicked off their land. Since the end of Apartheid, SF has been moving toward becoming another African $hithole. Yeah, bravo indeed.

What did Israel do to deserve such good fortune?

It would be difficult for anyone to do much worse than Zuma who was Africa's version of America's Trump.

I did some research on Ramaphosa and he is nothing like Zuma so that is a positive mark in his favor. That he was be able to successfully negotiate with sworn enemies and reach a consensus conclusion that avoided a bloody civil war which is another positive aspect. He entered into the business world and by all accounts was very successful. On top of that it was the corruption and criminality of Zuma that inspired Ramaphosa to re-enter politics in order to right the wrongs. Let us hope that he lives up to his past and does the people of South Africa proud.

As far as severing diplomatic ties with Israel goes that might have negative economic consequences. However it will remain to be seen if that results in job losses in either nation given that neither are major trading partners with the other.

It depends. If the country and its government is fighting a desperate fight against crime like Mexico or even worse some other middle American states, they dont loose my respect. If its a hateful little nation, that defines itself as the victim of the evil White man, but the very same ANC-members encourage militias to hack refugees from Zimbabwe into parts in the most horrific manner limb by limb and has no other agenda than spreading hate against Whites, Indians/Pakis/Asians, people of mixed colour, Xhosa and other minorities, yes, this country is a shithole and so morally rotten beyond any level you could discuss it in comparison to Israel that it should shut up (what those countries do not do as they lack any feeling of shame or remorse).

It went viral in the news 2008. Immigrants from Zimbabwe, Mozambique and many other neighbour countries had been murderered, some local ANC-members encouraged the lynchings. I will try to find links, but it was 10 years ago, the news are not full of it.

Yes, there is most definitely violence in South Africa and some of it is directed towards immigrants from other African nations. However it is fallacious to allege that it is condoned and provoked by the ANC. From your link;

Well, whats left is enough to see the difference between Israel and South Africa. Israel treats its Arabic minority e.g. with respect, they have citizenship and access to the job market, in South Africa immigrants are beaten to death by an angry mob who sings ANC-songs (this far you can still read in the source I gave).

So, South Africa is the typical shithole-country ... if at all, I am unfair to the average shithole country with this comparison.

After all, the motivations are clear. South Africa despises Israel because of Israel's support for South Africa during the Apartheid era. They kept their hostility after the Cold war and after the end of the Apartheid era. They need scapegoats for their own failure and they cannot have enough of them.
