Wonder how much Morris Dees has in offshore accounts along with "the board". Earned by reckless labeling anyone they disagree with as racist and white supremist and spreading their propaganda while asking for "donations" amassing a half billion. What was the last thing the did for any good and how much did it cost them. Why are they sitting on all that money, couldn't it be better used to help the poor rather that just issue list?

Read the OP, these guys are a Morgan-Stanley, Goldman Sachs of "non-profits". But what do they really do?

Southern Poverty Surpasses Half Billion in Assets; $121 Million Now Offshore

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a far-left nonprofit known for its "hate group" designations, has surpassed a half billion dollars in total assets and now has $121 million parked offshore, according to the group's most recent financial statements.

The SPLC, which is based in Montgomery, Ala., has not publicly posted its most recent financial statements on its website. However, the organization applied for renewal in the state of California days ago and submitted a number of documents pertaining to its financial standing including its most recent audited statement and tax forms for calendar year 2018, which covers Nov. 1, 2017 to Oct. 31, 2018.

According to the filings submitted to California's Office of Attorney General, the group reported total assets of $518 million from November 2017 to the Oct. 31, 2018, an increase of $41 million from the $477 million in total assets it reported on its previous year's tax forms....

SPLC gets donations to slander people who are hated by the left. It's a great racket, wish I thought of it.

Where is the IRS and the US Attorney? Why have they not seated grand juries and begun compelling testimony and evidence production?

Weaponizing ‘Hate:’ The Insidious SPLC Launches a Political Action Fund.

The SPLC Action Fund is their newly established political arm for the far-Left smear group that provides for "greater flexibility to engage in legislative battles at every level of government and to support critical ballot initiatives," according to the SPLC website.

The lying smearing SPLC claims to be a non-partisan organization but it maintains an inflated list of "hate groups" that lists mainstream conservative and Christian organizations alongside the Ku Klux Klan. It openly hates the Trump administration and encourages tech companies anyone they put on their hate list.

Now they have formed a PAC that will allow them to add political attacks to their campaign of hate.

If tax exempt churches can exist that lobby for legislation against groups they don’t like and our president can defraud students, investors, contractors, and his own charity then I am perfectly fine with this. I hope they see massive growth in their pacs and superpacs.

Churches are tax exempt due to the church-state separation doctrine. THIS IS FRAUD! Always has been, now just to the tune of hundreds of millions. Support this and you can't logically 'resist' Trump.

When did Mark Levin manufacture hate? I don't listen to political pundits often, but Levin always seemed decent.

As usual, this is another hair on fire right wing BS attack.

Sorry, but well established charities and venerable advocacy groups often have large asset bases. That's what an endowment is. They live primarily off contributions and the interest from the endowment.

The yellow rag Fee Beacon is counting in its audience not being smart or sophisticated enough to know that. They laced their hit piece with an extra dose of name calling and vitirol to drive the point home.

It is ironic to note that they mention that the SPLC hasn't posted its financials on its website.

It's an odd observation, since the Free Beacon would NEVER expect any of the right wing groups it shills for to do that!

In a 'progressive' world, should a poverty center have ANY profits? Its not a right wing attack, it's a demand that this agency stop lying about what it is.

To the violent left, its OK for a "charity" to have a large asset base, but a corporation that employs thousands of people should not be allowed to profit.

Profits? Do you have the slightest idea what you are talking about?

Charities, museums, universities, advocacy groups, all raise endowments and augment their income with the income from those endowments.

But the fact that I had to explain that very elementary fact to you confirms my point, aobut the Free Beacon counting on the parochialism and unsophistication of their target audience. You fell for it.

The Free Beacon also tried to mislead you into believing that SPLC hides is financial records.

It does not. It's IRS and Form 990 filings are right there on their website.

And, as a 501c(3), they are required to report their sources and uses of money, unlike virtually all of the ex tea party groups (which took steps to hide their financials) and many of the extremist right wing groups that SPLC monitors.

Levin is a practiced fear monger. He is also a much more practiced liar, spinning the most improbably conspiracy theories out of a carefully constructed patchwork of carefully selected facts. He argues that black is white virtually every day, usually in hysterical top of the lungs tones.

Anyone who is stupid enough to think that they are learning anything from one of Rush Limbaugh's charetan hangers on needs to turn off the AM radio and get out into the real world for a change.
