if we break the rules than other countries can too - I like to think America is better than that... but with this administration... sadly we are not a nation that keeps our word in deals
Ain't no stars in earth orbit or around the moon. That smSpace command will be transitioned into the dedicated one so the Air Force can concentrate on it's primary mission.
I don't recall ever reading that they developed along side each other and don't think the army ever tried to declare jurisdiction or Naval air wings. Now the Air Force once it separated and then the Army trying to go Air Cav. with both fixed wing and rotary wing was a huge issue. Starting with the Key West agreement in 1948 up to the 1960's the Army kept pushing the rules trying to take control of tactical air forces. I've read W.E.B. Griffins like 8 book series The Brotherhood of War on that time twice now. Great read for military history buffs.
It necessary China is going to space and we are and we cannot lose and cede to any other power uncontested space control we do we lose the war on the planet if war happens not to mention protecting our future space colonies and non-orbital interests. True I would prefer this be multi-national perhaps a NATO like space force down the road but we can get there first and they can join us. In my view we should have started this in the Cold War with space warships with the ability to take nukes into orbit in theory and we could be there now before anyone else. As for the treaties they were not suited to the space age using the argument if a giant asteroid was heading for Earth we couldn't send a space vessel armed with nukes to get rid of the threat due to a treaty.
Not saying that the Army tried to declare sovereignty over Naval air wings but I did recall reading something about the Air Force "fighting" to keep the Navy from developing strategic bombers. I cannot put my finger on it but I recall some interservice rivalry about the Air Force feeling that they should have all of the Air power. Yes sometime in the early 1960's the Air Force got control of all combat fixed wing aircraft and medium to large transport aircraft. In fact I supported a C-7 Caribou detachment in Vietnam. The Caribou was Army and of course the ones we had were originally Army. In fact parts of the airframe and equipment had Army markings. The Army regarding fixed wing was pretty much left with observation craft such as the OV-1 and 2 plus small utility craft to move brass around and SpecOps. W.E.B Griffin is a great story teller. I used to read almost everything. He wrote. There was a series forgot which one but it had Artgentine connections and involved small fixed wing craft and Slec Ops. I will have to check Kindle out for his books. I was been deep into Ci Fi Zombies then to Apocalyptic books on Kindle for several years now. I have read any paper books since Inwas into WEB Webb. Read most all The Generals, the Colnels, The Captains, his police series , Special Agents.. I think he even did a series about US military fighting along side Fillopinos against the Japanese. Good that you reminded me about WEB Webb.
So you don't mind if the Chinese draw and quarter our spies on live TV? And while we're at it, let's do away with federal laws and let all the states do whatever they want to other states! You're being an idiot.
Precisely! If you have a problem with a state's actions you take measures against them, that doesn't change because the UN exists. This is why they are so hopeless at enforcement.
I Thought it was decided that it would be "Space Corps" because it's not large enough to be a "Space Force" ? Is the media and the uniformed confusing U.S. S. C. as being a "command" ? In the early years of WW ll there was the Army Air Corps. As the Air Corps grew in size with more than three corps it became a "air Force." As the air force grew in size consisting with numerous air forces it became the U.S. Army Air Forces. Note that force is plural. Three or more squadrons = Air Group Three or more air groups = Air Wing Three or more air wings = Air Corps Three or more air corps = Air Force House Armed Services Committee votes to create a U.S. Space Corps https://spacenews.com/house-armed-services-committee-votes-to-create-a-u-s-space-corps/ Where as the U.S. Marine Corps falls under the Department of the Navy, the U.S. Space Corps will come under the Department of the Air Force.
I’m not sure but I’m guessing NASA will deal more with exploration and research, while Space Force would deal more with the military applications, which at this point I think is mostly satellites for recon, communications, and gps and whatnot. I could be wrong, but that would be my guess. I’m sure they’ll overlap some though
This moment pales in comparison to Reagan's "Star Wars" program that was later sued by George Lucas because he used "Star Wars" first...
Yes now there the USAF might be bitchin' and when does tactical become strategic on the battlefield. He lived right down the road but never met him. Need to read his police series.
I read Space Force will also focus on anti-satellite ops as well. Armed satellites are not unheard of.
