    Special prosecutor named to look
    into Jussie Smollett case

CHICAGO (AP) — A judge appointed a special prosecutor Friday to look into why the Chicago state's attorney's office abruptly dropped the case against Jussie Smollett, leaving open the possibility that the former "Empire" actor could yet face charges in what police say was a phony attack on himself that he staged to get attention.

Smollett, who is black and gay, maintains that he was the target of a racist and homophobic attack in January. But if the special prosecutor, former U.S. Attorney Dan Webb, determines that the charges shouldn't have been dropped, he could recommend that they be reinstated or that new charges be brought.

Webb, who was appointed by Cook County Judge Michael Toomin during a Friday hearing, told reporters afterward that he would move the investigation along as quickly as possible. Such probes typically include impaneling a special grand jury, issuing subpoenas, taking witness statements and a final report.

Sadly, :( Still A Totally, Internal, Chicago Affair.
This should be a Federal level corruption investigation.

If Smolett were in jail and found
    "Epsteined"

Would it be racism? Or homophobic?

Jussie needs to be behind bars. 10 years will do.

I would be happy just if Smollett were forced to admit his guilt and confess it was all a hoax - as he should have been required
to do before the charges were dropped.

Smollett had very good chances of igniting a race riot. Possibly his goal.
    That deserves appropriate "jail time".

How about conspiracy threatening the public safety.

    Smollett lied to investigators.
That deserves the usual and customary penalty.

What part do I have incorrect?

Chicago corruption has historically been more gross than customary. Remember '68.

An architect / contractor friend was doing some work for Chicago types in So. Calif.
He says as they left his office he was handed several blank envelopes with cash,

to aid the approval processes for the building.
He said he needed some time to convince them he did not need it,
that is not how it works here, etc. and they left with their envelopes.

The current investigation into the Smollett situation
needs to go beyond Chicago, Cook County and the State of Illinois to the Federals.

Boardies Know Moi Is Not A Fan of the Federals.
There can be no proper investigation within the State of Illinois.
Suck is the influence of Chicago and Cook County on the State.

I didn't mean to imply he doesn't deserve prison time, it just grates on me that he is still running around proclaiming he is a
victim. And gullible people believe him. It was gross incompetence on the part of prosecutor Foxx too let him off without even
an admission of guilt. Such an admission is the very least the people deserve from him, but I doubt we will get even that.
