Visually they were terrible. Every shot was a mess of garbage. Lucas filled the screen with so much crap it was literally information overload. He didn't utilize a single basic principle of design/composition to control the viewer's attention. His blocking was atrocious. He is not a good director.

    The prequels were gash.

They were a series of poorly shot (reverse shot ad nauseum) boring conversations between lifeless characters interspersed with terrible looking CGI fluff. The plots were completely confusing, unbelievable and unexciting. I mean the opener in TPM was a super exciting discussion about a trade dispute, that was so badly thought out I doubt the actors even understood it, let alone the audience. Just a bunch of complete excrement by a man who once had a clue but has long since lost that and now has only the massive hype surrounding his name to cling on to... a terrible combination.

    On topic.

Deciding to be a "Jedi" is no more idiotic than believing in any other supernatural, unprovable religion. If it makes them a better person let them do it. What is totally idiotic is people believing in one unprovable deity pointing at people who believe in another as tho they are stupid... Irony at it's finest

    Indeed, I agree.

If one was going to invent another religion, at least it should be based on a good movie series.

I think that Lucas was far more interested in creating some sort of intertwining stories than actually making a good movie.

there's a rumor that went around that L. Ron Hubbard and Robert Anson Heinlein had a bet about who could start a religion. Stranger in a Strange Land didn't win. :(

The prequels were Space Opera stylized films. They were nothing like the originals because Lucas didn't want to re-make the same movies with a han solo, a luke or a darth vader. he went the opposite direction with a kid, and a plot. Fans wanted a young darth vader going off killing jedi..what they got was a nice kid. That was a no no for the crazy fans who only like the troppers and the sith.

The acting is 50's style, opera style. Not meant to be taken seriously. the whole prequels are DIFFERENT than what you expect today. It's not what young idiots are accustomed to. Like transformers or the hulk...what is good today doesn't matter to lucas he made a film as he wanted to make it. it's independent. he doens't give a **** of what people like you think about his films. that's what he wanted. A hard to understand, 50's style space opera with warriors and silly adventures.

The audience never got it..it was too complicated for them and too political. the prequels are not for the average week to week movie goer. They are for smart, sophisticated, scifi, fans who like a different story based on nothing we've ever seen.

You sir, are out of order.

What a fancy way of saying they were a load of boring irrelevant crap. At least you made one salient point, nobody did take the acting seriously,Police Academy had more interesting/credible characters. Who exactly were we meant to identify with ? Anakin was such a little twot I wanted him to die, obi wan was so up his own ass I thought he would die of suffocation, Qui Gon droned on and on and made me wish I was dead, Ja Ja me wish Lucas would die and the "love" scenes between older anakin and washername amidala almost caused me to drown in my own vomit. There was no tension between any of the characters, they seemed to just be going through the motions.

Perhaps it would have been more interesting if somebody had actually started singing.... LOL space opera my ass, the only thing the prequels had in common with opera was that they were long, boring and inaccessible and the writer had disappeared up his own sphincter

I've heard this as well. However, what is certainly true - on several occasions, Hubbard is on record saying variations of "If you want to get rich, you start a religion".

    O. M. G.

I've read several of your movie reviews on this forum before, and without going into a bunch of detail (since it's off-topic), I really hope that it isn't your paid profession.

Now now, is that an appropriate response from a "Christian"?

Jedism is a religion in America as well. It's been officically recognized for several years. It has nothing to do with the force and other fictional aspects of the Jedi Order, but the philosophical aspects of the beliefs. They believe that the death penalty and torture are wrong, for example, because the Jedi teachings say that a prisoner should not be harmed in any way.

So, yes, the Jedism philosophy should be included in this section.

Where are your manors Mr Jedi?

Perhaps you should recite the Jedi Code next time you feel the urge to sat bite me to someone:

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

    Luke changed the code...

Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect.
Jedi respect all life, in any form.
Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.

He also changed the Jedi code to allow Jedi to have intimate relationships
